How do you fit eating into your plans?

We're heading to WDW in July and Before we usually have done the early mornings and left the park at the back of 11am and headed elsewhere for lunch or had lunch in the park and left shortly after that to rest and then swim in the late afternoon before heading for either a counter service dinner and parade or a relaxing evening out and a long table service meal. But with 2 children, I am determined to fit more rest breaks in and chill out more.

I think you plan works pretty well with young children. I believe the best plan is to try to schedule meals for about the same time as their normal, at home schedule. So, do the parks as you please and plan on eating either there or back at your resort, whichever you are at when its time.

Nap time is important at this age - and also at my age. :goodvibes

I'll be going in Nov. with my 2yo ds. I'm planning on eating breakfast in the room, having an early cs lunch (like we do at home), going back to the room for 2-3 hours and then having our early TS meal after he's refreshed. I've tried to plan mostly buffet type meals so that way there's not a lot of waiting for ds. I also know that I'll have to be a little spontanious, and if he's not up for a TS-rescheduling or not going at all. With little kids you just have to kind of "go with the flow".

I plan to make ADRs for around the same times we eat at homewith acouple of exceptions for early or late Breakfasts as they fit into our touring plan better. We have the DDP as it will make many of the Character meals doable while OOP we wouldn't do many at all. DD will be on a very restricted diet due to surgery so buffets will work well for her!!

Well our usual plan is eat a large breakfast, head to the parks just before opening, eat a snack for lunch (ice cream or something like that, and a drink), then have a table service meal at night. We go back and swim/nap before the evening meal, and if it's before 8:30 it usually works OK!

we plan our ADR's in/near the park we are visiting that day. I never go back to the resort for naps. (even with small children ages 1 and 3) I am very lucky they will nap anywhere :teeth: After lunch, we take a short walk in our own stroller. It takes about 10 minutes before they are both fast asleep.
My DH and I take turns on the rides the kids can't go on. :teeth:

We usually eat a minimal breakfast in the room to save time and money. The last few trips I've made sure to make ADR's for one meal per day, but sometimes that limits your spontaneity once you're there. With the new dining plan, it is hard to get ADR's on the same day. Anyway, that's what we do, plus a CS for the other meal.

I agree, we do the same and we're in our 50's. I always have places to eat right where we're playing. No extended travel across Disney for some other eatery. If we're in between times, we head back to the resort and can eat there around the pool or we do the picnic thing at the pool too. We do the grocery stop and do have our staples we like for sandwiches and impromptu picnics. We don't have a stone plan but we know the parks and basically where we'll be and whats in that area we like dining in. Big discussion with all involved in our vacation as to what and where everyone wants to eat and we go from there.

We do have a few musts that need reservations and we split these up over our stay in the areas we're visiting but we like to be spontaneous in our dining and don't have alot of ADR's. We've been done to WDW over 38 times and each trip gets easier and easier since we elimate alot of back travel and bus time by concentrating on the area we're in for the morning and evening. We rarely go to one park morn and evening, its half days at 2 parks with a break in the afternoon and next day we switch the parks around to experience each park for a morning and night.

I plan on bringing a breakfast back from the food cout around 7, and having an early lunch (before 12 to beat the crowds) and an early TS dinner (maybe 5) so that my dd2 can go back to the room after for a bath and a good nights rest :teacher:
