I need to cancel a reservation, just want to see what use year my points are from. I may try to "sell" the reservation instead, but need to wait til 30-day window. Now I'm at xxxxx days.
I assume you want to know which points in the reservation are regular use year points that can still be banked and which are ones that cannot be banked because they are already either banked or borrowed points. If that is the case, then on the DVC site, start a modification of your existing reservation, and choose to modify it to the exact same reservation -- resort, time and room type -- that you currently have. Continue doing the modification until you get to the page that declares Your Room Is Available. That page will give you the contracts you can use and total points available. Underneath the Contract number, it will also tell you how many points expire at the end of the use year during which the reservation occurs, which gives the total number of points which are banked and borrowed and can no longer be banked. Beneath that will be a number "Available to Borrow {from the the next use year]," and, if the the total shown for that is less than 50% of the total for the next use year, the difference is the number that are already borrowed points in the reservation. Once you do the numbers, you can then just stop doing the modification you are attempting (click Back and it will send you back to where you start a modification).
To simplify things if you don't want to sleuth it yourself, I just call for this type of info. If you call right when the lines open in the morning it's not a super long wait. I've had the CMs swap points from one contract to another for an existing reservation as well to align things as I want (optimizing for banked/available etc).
