So my mom and I have been going to Disney World since 2005 and have always used the dining plan.

Whenever we do we usually share breakfast and lunch and then have the table service. That way we both get breakfast (which is usually the french toast at Pop) and lunch (usually a hamburger w/ fries) and the table we get our own and snacks as well.

I don't understand what you posted. What do you mean "you both get breakfast" etc? You both have dining credits, I don't get why you would need to share 2 meals a day?

On the Basic Meal you get
1 Quick Service
1 - 2 Snacks (don't remember how many)
1 Table service
per person.

If i used mine for breakfast for myself i wouldn't get lunch.
So we would get breakfast and split it. And same with lunch. That way we wouldn't have to spend out of pocket money for breakfast or lunch... Its easy to understand.
Or better yet, I use my quick service for breakfast and split it and my mom uses her quick service for lunch and we split the meal. That way we don't eat too much and both have a pick me up meal.

Because they each only get 1 QS and 1 TS per "day". To make 3 meals out of that, you'd either have to use a snack as a meal, or make it so that each person's QS credit that day feeds both.

Sure. We don't use the snack for a b or l we use it as a snack in between. :)
We don't mind sharing cause it's too much food for one person.

We are a family of 5 Disney adults. We always loved the dining plan but have opted not to do it anymore. Most times we end up with too many credits left over because the kids aren't as hungary at dinner time and end up sharing. Also all the ADRs are very constricting. We are trying it without dining plan in Feb so will report back on how we enjoyed it.

I gave up the dining plan in 2008 when the restrictions of using it began to outweigh the savings. but when I got it, I didn't worry about it not covering three meals a day and generally used it for signature restaurants (2 credits) so it wouldn't have covered everything anyway.

When we had the DDP, we always used the QS for lunch, and our TS for dinner. Even with 1 snack/pp, we always had extra credits left over....so we'd use those on the wonderful rice krispie treats to take home with us. We always get light breakfast items from GG, and staying delux is nice as we knwo we'll have the fridge to keep the cold stuff cold.

This time, we're splurging on the DxDP, since there are a bunch of signatures that we haven't been able to try, but wanted to. I know going in that we won't use all the snack credits, but I love the "transportable edible souvies" that we come home with. Our gameplan this time is to do 1TS lunches, and 2TS dinners...eating lunch at 11:00 to 11:30, and dinner at 6:30 or so...

Just a FYI, we did the Brown Derby last year and did not see that it was worth 2TS. Just thought you would want to know

Last time went in 2005, we were 2 adults and 3 kids. So for lunch, we only got 1 or 2 kids meal counter service meals, and we would share the rest. This left a counter service meal for dh to use every morning for breakfast. It worked out perfectly.

We are heading down in August with 7 of us, 2 adults, 3 disney adults and 2 kids. So 2 of the older kids will share a counter service and the 2 little ones will share a counter service meal, this will leave at least 2 CS everyday for breakfasts.

We always do a sit down supper without sharing. If they don't want to share counter service meals that is fine too, I have budgeted for breakfast meals.

We usually don't get really hungry until about 11 so we just grab some fruit or pop tarts that I have int he room and we eat that at the bus stop. After a rope drop morning, we are ready for lunch at 11:00. On our first day, we eat lunch or dinner off site depending when we go shopping for our snacks. This way we have a meal for our last day. We generally take the latest flight out of MCO and have more than enough time for a park and a nice late lunch/early dinner on our last day.
