need 2700 by 3/1/2005. ad thats just the current reservations not including air and food and trans.

just had to buy a car(280), start daycare (400) we didnt know about.

total per moth 680 dollars more a month added to my already tight budget.

now my exsisting car got hit by a piece of semi truck tire and killed the exhaust (500) 2 weeks ago, now radiator finally bit the dust but it had to foul up the transmission fluid also so now (320) to replace and another (80) to flush transmission and pray the transmission isnt damaged (3000).

how do you cope with budget busters in your life????

I feel your pain! As of August the vacation account was $2500 strong! But a few unexpected expenses and it was down to $411 as of a few weeks ago  This money was originally earmarked for a quick trip to Missouri in Spring 2005 for DD and I, and the remainder was to be saved for WDW in 11/2005 or 1/2006....

But we got a call from DNeice in New Mexico that she is getting married next summer. So we will be flying to NM.... and I got the BRILLIANT idea that we could fly to CA from NM and go to Disneyland!!.... but alas, the vacation $$ does not look promising! I have applied to be a substitute teacher at my children's school (I have been a SAHM for 9 1/2 years), so that will help. And I earn about $125 month for some misc. work I do at home... all of my income will be headed straight to the vacation fund... but I still don't think it will be enough to include DL in our trip next summer... but a girl can wish, can't she?!

So I ALSO will accept any donations :p .. and any suggestions on how I can come up with $6,000 by next summer!!!!

VintageKnight.... if I win the lottery in the meantime, I promise to make a generous donation to your cause!:D .................P

Easier said then done, but the key is to have a healthy "rainy day" fund for when the worst happens.

In the past we've had to cancel, postpone or downgrade trips. It's not fun to have to do that, but I also can't enjoy taking a trip that I know deep down we can't afford.

Sorry for your setbacks...it can really put a damper on things. Our car needed an unexpected 1000 repair 2 weeks before our drive down last Dec., and we were doing a family visit w/a quick stop at the Dolphin...not even any parks and I was stressing the cost. This year, I have 90% of the trip $ set aside...and DH got news he will be on the RIF list...no job. I am currently living in denial as the kids know about our Christmas trip and it will be so crushing to postpone indefinitely. We have to choose if the trip $$ should stay where it is, or be used to get us along another month. Tough call...you will find a way...can you change hotels to a value or once the repairs are done to your car can you drive instead of flying? Tho I know there are some amazing A/F deals out there right now...but driving does allow you to bring down a lot of food items. Since your trip follows Christmas if anyone is looking for Gift ideas for your family mention Disney Dollars,,,they can be used toward the room, food, anything there.
Good Luck!

Pam
