How do you combine the DDP and the TIW card?

We have a trip coming up for which I plan on getting the TIW card (we're AP holders). The only reason we're doing this instead of just getting the DDP is that my 9 yo son is tired of the kids menu. I get it, he's been there 2x on the plan and always protested having to order pizza, or nuggets.

However, for the other 3 of us, the DDP makes great sense.

Would/should I try to combine the two? If you've done it in a similar scenario, please give me details of how you arranged the bill. Thanks!!

You can't combine the two. If you're getting the DDP, you must get it for all members of the party sharing the room. It's an "all or nothing" thing.

You can use Tables in Wonderland on food and beverages NOT covered by the DDP. For instance, if you ate at a restaurant and ordered appetizers and drinks, you can get the TiW discount for those, and put the entree and dessert with DDP. You will get two separate bills for doing that.

Basically, you cannot opt out of DDP for your son. You'd be able to pay OOP with TiW for his meals if you don't care to use his dining credits, but that sounds like a waste.

Personally in your case I would just use your TIW card and skip the DDP then everyone can order exactly what they want including your son.

If you get the DDP then what are you going to do with his child points? Everyone in the room has to be on the plan. You can't pick and choose people so you can't opt out of the plan for him.

I was set on the TIW card and still am. However, I just read in a thread that someone combined them but what I'm thinking is they had more than one party/reservation, like one family met up with the IL's, one had the plan, one had TIW. In that case they combined them? I don't know.

Anyway, you're right, it doesn't make sense to just waste his points. We'll stick with the TIW card only.

I'm really going to miss my snack credits. :sad1:

If you want DDP, put your son's age as 10 rather than 9.

If you're on free dining, then you pay more for his park ticket, but he can order adult meals. If you're not on free dining, then the dining plan is considerably more for a 10 year old than a 9 year old, but the choices are certainly better. Of course, you have to buy him an adult park ticket.

People combine TiW and DDP when, for example, they order appetizers, beer, wine, etc., all of which qualify for the TiW discount but are not included on the DDP.

I was going to suggest this but the OP stated that they have APs and I wasn't sure how she could list her son as older when he is obviously going to have a child AP and not an adult one. It may be possible -- I know people do it with a MYW package (room, tickets, and DDP) but I'm not sure how to do it with APs.

The only way you can "combine" TIW and DDP is to use TIW for a discount on any off-plan items you order, like alcoholic beverages or appetizers. You'll get a separate check for those and DDP can be applied to it. That would also apply if you were ordering any full meals OOP.

I don't know what difference it makes what kind of AP you have as far as registering the child as 10. They won't look at the child's AP at check-in. As long as one of the adults has an AP I don't know why they couldn't do it. They wouldn't have to purchase tickets at all.
