How do you clean your phone? Car keys? Seat belt?

phone and key fob: alcohol on a cotton ball.

Inside the car including controls gets a wipe down with a sanitising wipe. The leather seats get wiped down with dish soap on a damp towel. This is not due to covid19, I have done it weekly forever.

Due to covid19 and grocery pick up I have blankets down in the way back (suv) which get frequently washed.

I keep germx in the car and as soon as I get in; I use it before touching anything and removing my mask.

Once a week after grocery shopping, I use a Clorox wipe to clean my phone, wallet, keys and everything I touch in the car, including the seat belt, seat adjuster, gear shift, window button, radio, etc. It is a habit I started in the early days of the pandemic and will likely stop once this passes. With one exception. I have always cleaned the phone and case with a Clorox wipe occasionally through cold and flu season and will continue that indefinitely.

I've always kept Germ-X in the car to use as needed, but especially after trips into the store.

How do you clean/disinfect your phone without getting it too wet? How often do you clean it?

Also, if you clean your car keys how do you do that?

And one final cleaning question: how do you clean your seat belt? I hate to think about the sweat, dead skin cells, and dirt those things probably have on them.

I keep disinfecting wipes in my car and wipe down 'touchable' things every time I'm in it - keys/fob, door handles, leather steering wheel, seatbelt, also phone, etc. Haven't had problems with dirty seatbelt as it gets wiped so often.
I also use sanitizer gel everytime I get back in car before I touch my mask or anything else besides door handle.

I wash my hands often and clean my cell phone, since it goes by my face when talking on it (sometimes).

I don't clean groceries, mail, steering wheels, seatbelts, door handles, etc. All overkill in my opinion.

I eat decent, I exercise, sleep well and I'm healthy as a horse.

Never clean the seat belt, except the metal buckle part. Use sanitizer on that.
I don't clean my keys......but I only use a car key.
My phone, I use glasses wipes on it. Also on my glasses, tablet, computer screens

I don't drive, but my sister does and her habit now is to make us open the car doors, but use sanitizer before getting in. She wipes down the steering wheel with an alcohol wipe. I think it just makes her feel more secure.

Unless it touches close to home, you may feel it is overkill, hopefully it won't. I don't think I will ever regret going the extra mile after what we have seen. It doesn't hurt us to be extra cautious, or anyone/anything else, and it might just help. :-) Being young or healthy doesn't always matter to covid.

I don't clean my keys (fob stays in a pocket in my purse, we have a Kevo door knob that we touch to open on our garage and to front door.

I don't clean my seatbelt either but in the height of quarantine I would spray the inside of my car down with Lysol spray when I exited. During those days I was usually only in my car once a week to pick up a grocery order, so I felt like even if I had picked a germ up, it would have time to die before I got back in again.

As for my phone, I do try to remember to wipe it down with an alcohol wipe more frequently these days. I'm not perfect about it though. Just out of curiosity does anyone use one of thse UV sanitizers? I've always thought phones have the potential to harbor a lot of grossness, but also didn't know of those sanitizers actually work or not. I rarely talk on my phone up to my head so I guess that is a plus but I touch the phone a lot and I'm sure I touch my face too without realizing it.

I wipe down my phone with lens wipes and occasionally “bake” it in my Phone Soap. Before things got shut down when the kids came home from school I’d have them wipe down their phones, put them in the Phone Soap and wash their hands.

I’m the only person who touches my keys. It’s never occurred to me to clean them. Or my seatbelt. My hands are clean when I get in my truck and I wash them when I get home so...🤷🏻‍♀️ I suppose technically both are dirty but the chances of transfer after touching with clean hands and then sitting for days at a time seems unlikely. I do hit my steering wheel with a wipe on occasion and in the early days of the pandemic I did wipe down and bake my mailbox key. Now I just wash my hands after checking the mail.

I don’t clean my keys or seat belt. I will wipe down my phone and tablet occasionally when they get too many fingerprints. I will vacuum out the car every few months cause the kids can be messy.

Yes, I have a UV sanitizer for my phone that I also use on my keys, glasses, etc. takes just a few seconds and it’s very convenient...

I wipe my phone down daily with an alcohol wipe.

I’ve never cleaned my car fob, though I did put one through the wash 🤦‍♀️ I haven’t paid the $800 to replace it yet 🙄

I wipe down the seatbelt whenever I wipe down the inside of my car between details, but not on any set schedule. It’s usually when the dog hair is taking over.

None of this is due to covid.

Side topic... anyone else grossed out when you see someone put their keys in their mouth... often right after dropping them in the parking lot? Or how about the people who use their keys to pick stuff or mud out of the bottom of their boots/shoes?

I have a canister of disinfectant wipes I got at the beginning of March. I pull out only about a 2 inch strip, cut it off and use that to wipe down the phone, then the keys. I really don't need a full size wipe to do those. The canister of wipes has really lasted me by only cutting a size of wipe appropriate to whatever job I need one for. I keep a dedicated pair of scissors next to the canister so I can always cut to size. I will buy a couple more canisters, but I won't have to worry that I didn't stock up enough if we go through another shortage of wipes this winter.
