How do you check the weight of your suitcase before you go!

I am wondering how you know if you are within the weight limit on your suitcases before you get to the airport. I am always concerned (especially on the way home) that I might have to pay excess charges. I was considering one of the fisherman type scales that are small and could be packed in a case, but all the ones I find only go up to 22kg, and the weight limit is now 30 something with virgin - I am not so concerned going out so wondered if I might pick up one of these at walmart that would do the trick!

The way we weigh ours...on the way out anyway... is to stand on the scales holding the case. The difference between my/husbands weight with/without the case is the weight! Simple!

We just drop the cases on the scales and peer around them to see what the readout says.
Always seems to work ok.

We normally do this before we leave home to go on holiday,but im not sure how people do it for the flight home after all the shopping they'e done in Florida,do people just guess,then when they get to the airport pay more if they have to? this is something i would also like to know

Im not sure if the hotels have scales that you can borrow!

Have you ever picked up a suitcase weighing 32kgs? In 6 trips, we've only ever come close to it (28kgs) once, and then the very large suitcase was almost bursting at the seams!
I wouldn't worry unduly...
