I don't want to bring alot od cash. I'm thinking maybe 200.00 in cash do all stands/stores ect.. take travelers checks? I don't want to bring a debit card either that way I only spend what I bring. This is our first trip so I'm really lost on alot

I have a Paypal account, and with that I get a MC debit card, so we transfer our vacation money to that card and that is the only thing we bring that way we don't spend more money than we should. We use it to get plane tickets and extra stuff that we will need for our trip. It is easy to set up an account. Hope this helps :bounce:

I was going to ask the same question!!!
In the past we have used our debit card, but this time we don't want to. I have already bought $500 in Disney Dollars. I plan on bringing $200 in cash and not sure about travelers checks? I'm almost positive they are accepted everywhere, but I'm not sure about the snack carts.

I leave my cc number at the front desk and charge everything to my room card (even a soda at a cart). This way, no money/travelers checks to loose and no extra card (credit or debit) to carry.

I agree with the PP, however, some stands only accept cash and you might need cash for tips and other small purchases.

This is what we do, but than we use traveler's checks and go to the front desk and pay off our account. No credit card bill when we get home. Travelers checks in amounts o0f $100 make less signing.

What stands only take cash? I have yet to run into any that don't take cc or room key.

If I am staying at a WDW resort I leave a cc on file and charge to my room. Only cash I need is for tips. (valet, mousekeeping)

If I stay at SOG I take cash for tips and use my cc/dc in the parks. It is mush easier then having loose bills.

If you have a lot of Disney dollars you can use a cc on file for your room and then pay it off in DD. I think you can also pay over your room charge (with DD or TC) and have them use it against charges.

I would bring traveler's cheques. Thats what BF and I did last year and it worked out beautifully.

I just got a Visa gift card and put money on it for our trip. I'm hoping I can use that at checkin and then charge things back to the room. Does that work? I got $450 gift card. . . .And then I'm bringing some cash as well. We have the meal plan, so I'm hoping our oop won't be too bad.

Be careful with charging to the room. Disney screws it up a lot. Oftentimes you don't notice it until you get the bill later.

American Express now offers a debit card that works like travellers cheques. You selet the amount that you want to add to the card and then draw from those funds.

We charged everything to our room also. So convenient. I looked over our bill at checkout for several minutes and there was one charge that was incorrect. I had gone to rent a stroller and the register was having problems. I was charged twice. I simply told the CM at the checkout desk and she immediately took it off. Super easy. I also did not encounter anyone who required cash, except the carriage ride at POR, but I knew about that ahead of time and had an envelope of cash ready. Any cash we needed for tips was already set aside :) HTH and have fun!

The only timeI have ever encountered a place that only takes cash is one of the vendors that are not actually Disney--like the hair wrap carts or the temporary tatoos.

I charge to the room and if you do not want to put a credit card on file then just give them $500.00 in travelers checks at the front desk. If you us up that you can just give them more. I agree that sometimes they mess up a little, but they work on the honor system and have always corrected my bill. It takes a few minutes to check out when reviewing your bill, but the convenience of charging to the room is worth it!

We're staying offsite at Give Kids the World Village for dd's wish trip so we can't charge things to the room. Should we get traveler's checks? Do most counter service places and stores take them?

Thanks!

we just returned from the World and we got AAA Visa cards not connected to our bank account and they also work as an ATM card. We used that for our key to the world and it worked great!

usually take around $200 in cash and the rest goes on our KTTW. never had a problem on the ship or at the world..

I didn't know AAA had them, I got a Visa gift card from a bank. Will the hotel take that as the credit card on file at the hotel? I thought you might know since you were just there.. ..

Yes, the hotel accepted that as our credit card for the key to the world even though there was no name on the card or anything. It worked out perfectly!

Thank you Angelsmom, that's a big relief! I am getting so freaked out about getting everything together to go -- and soo excited! :cool1:  :cheer2: :Pinkbounc
