How do you back up your photos/videos while at Disney?

Hi everyone! I'm just wondering if any of you have some tips for backing up all of your magical photos and videos while you're away. We're planning to vlog and I'm very wary of having the memory cards as the only copies. I'm thinking about bringing a Macbook but I know it won't fit in the room safe (we'll be staying at the All Star Movies resort for two weeks) and I'm not sure of the best way to secure it.

Another idea is to bring the iPad mini and connect to the camera over Disney wi-fi, but won't it take forever to transfer everything across? Has anyone used the Apple SD Card reader for transferring photos AND videos? I have a feeling trying to transfer videos any way other than directly on to the Macbook will have issues!

While we don't do it at Disney, we are scuba divers and my honey does underwater video. Each night he downloads from his camera to his laptop and we do a little editing while he is at it. I take underwater still shots so he also downloads off my memory card as well. He carries a full sized laptop with him since it has the best editing software. As far as securing your macbook, I wouldn't worry about it. Just put it in it's case and stick it in a drawer under some clothes if you are worried. I've left my Lenovo Yoga out on the desk and have never had any problems.

We bring our laptop, too. We generally don't do video, just stills. Then when we get home, everything gets put on the backup hard drive as well.

We've been doing this for years, not just WDW, but cruises and overseas trips. We just keep the laptop out of sight in a drawer when not in use.

Ah, ok.

If you were using an iPhone/iPad I was going to suggest this the SanDisk iXpand Mobile Flash Drive. It plugs right into the Lightning Port of an apple device.

This article has tips for backing up photos while traveling, but I'm sure you've thought of all of these ideas already.

Your best bet, in regards to the amount of suitcase space it takes up may be a Lightning Port to SD Card Reader cable.

We are leaving in 23 days for a 2-week trip so I wanted to have a way to back up my photos without taking my Macbook Pro. I have an older iPad (no lightning cable), so the easy option was out. After tons of research, I bought the RavPower FileHub (https://www.amazon.com/RAVPower-Ver...d=1469822561&sr=8-3&keywords=ravpower+filehub). I have several SD cards so I will rotate those out periodically so if something happens to one, I won't lose all my pictures. We go back to the resort for naps in the afternoon, so I will take my SD card and dump it onto an external HD using the FileHub. It doesn't require anything but an iPhone/iPad/Android device to start the process. Just to make sure this was going to work for me, I have made several "test runs" of my process and they've worked like a charm. I take pictures on my camera(s), put the SD cards into the reader, fire up the app to transfer them to the external HD, and voila! It's just a couple of small pieces of hardware that will easily fit into a safe, even though I'm not really concerned about that. It doesn't take much time at all, so I think this option will work nicely.

I like to bring a memory card for each day just for my peace of mind. I hate taking my laptop on vacation, it's not worth the weight/space for me. Last trip I had a camera failure (non-sd card related) and ended up using my phone, and then using the resort wi-fi to back up to the cloud every night. I just set it to go before I went to sleep and it was done by morning, no worrying about how long it would take or taking time out of my vacation.

I'll bring my laptop along to back up my photos and videos. I'll use the laptop to do some photo editing during the evening/rainy afternoons/afternoon breaks too.

I just bring multiple memory cards to use. Also I plan on upgrading our cloud space before the next trip to save photos that way.

I used a Microsoft surface (original) I'm sure these can be picked up for pennies now, but anyway using the micro SD slot I put a large micro sd card (64gb) into the slot and backed up I even brought another, I didn't format my mem cards so this was a 'just in case'.

Advantage of the surface I could still email etc etc and it was small enough to put in the safe.

We brought an external hard drive...DH never goes anywhere without his computer due to his job and we backed them up each night. We also take multiple memory cards for our cameras just in case of a malfunction to alleviate some of the possibilities of losing all of our photos/videos.

Our local electronics store ran a heck of a deal on 128gb flash drives so I purchased one for each of the 3 families and before we left WDW each one got a flash drive with every picture taken at WDW. I know...a little overkill but that way we had 4 backups plus our memory cards just in case.

I almost always take my laptop with me when I travel and copy pictures to both the HDD of the laptop and to a travel size external HDD. I have never had a problem leaving my laptop in the room. Sometimes I leave it out, sometimes under clothes in my suitcase or in a drawer, but have never had the laptop disappear while traveling.

Yes, once all the photos have synced, I then delete them off my phone. The first few times was a little nerve wracking, I'll admit! Give it a test run now with just a few photos (download the app, upload photos and then view in the app and/or on the Amazon cloud website) and you'll get the hang of it. You can always download specific photos back into your phone's photo album as well. It's a pretty cool benefit of Prime.
