how do yo transfer points?

what is the process in points transfer? Do both party have to be on the phone to transfer? Does the transferred points retain the same use year as the seller or do they follow the buyer's use year?

I believe only the member that is transferring out the points needs to call. They would give them the name and city/state of the member that is receiving the points. The points would retain their original home resort and use year.

Haven't transfered points (in or out), but my understanding is they only need the members name and location. If there were multiple members in that city with the same name, then I guess they would need some additional information to locate the correct member.

He might not have needed it, but since you need the last 4 of a SSN to do anything I didn't mind giving it to him. The points I got kept the other member's use year, but I hear stories of how that doesn't always happen even though it's supposed to. The transferred in points didn't appear online when I logged into my account, but the reservation I made with them does show.

no way of knowing but if you call MS they will gladly tell you. I just transferred points in and it was easy as long as you find someone you can trust. Just gave my name and member # and he transferred them right away

I know you can only transfer in but not in and out on the same year. But can you transfer in points more than once? I had some BLT points transferred to me and need some more. I can make another transfer in?

Only one transfer (in or out) per use year. If you had points transferred in, that's your one transfer for that use year.

I had points transferred in in May that were the same home resort and UY of my contract.

Because of that, they DO show up on my account as being transferred in. I think if you go with something different than what you own, you can't see them.

I was told that I wouldn't be able to either but was thrilled when I could see them.

Remember, it is one in or out per UY. So, if you got 2011 UY points, you can possibly still get 2012 UY points that would be valid for time of travel.

For example, if you were traveling in July 2012, you could get say, Oct 2011 UY points and then June 2012 UY points transferred in. Both would be good for that one trip and would be allowed as it would be considered your one and only 2011 and 2012 UY transfer.

Yes, you could get 2012 UY points. Feb, Mar, June, or Aug 2012 would be good for your trip.

It might be easier, but it is not allowed in your contract to transfer points for money. People do it all the time, but if MS hears that there's money involved, they won't do it.
