How do we become the family of the day?

As a family we've sat and watched the parade or rope drop and always wanted to be that family thats involved...anyone know how we get this ?

My family and I were picked a few years ago at Disney Studios--it was actually just dumb luck. We were walking into the park around noon and we were approached by a cast member who asked if we wanted to do it. Definitely a memorable day!

There is no sure fire way to have this happen, it just happens. You have to be in the right place at the right time to get picked and it is never in the same place from one day to another.

Just go and hope the magic happens!

We were picked to open Disneyland last year on my son's birthday by being one of the first at the gate. We also passed the time by giving my DS one of his birthday presents (and he had his birthday button on) so that may have helped get us picked.

It is not as cool as opening MK (from what I have read) since DL doesn't have the pre-opening shows, but it did make for special memories of my DS's birthday.

Many years ago we were chosen to be the Grand Martials of the afternoon parade at MK we were in line waiting to go in and a real nice cast member asked us if we wanted to be in the parade. Simple as that

Nearly 2 yrs ago we were picked to open the magic kingdom ... how did that happen? well it helped that it was pouring rain and that there was hardly anyone else at the gates that early. We ended up not being able to open the park because it was pouring down rain. However we were escorted to a fantastic meet and greet with 12 characters! What a magical moment! And then we got to walk around the park - while getting soaked - all by ourselves! It was awesome.

We were picked to open Disneyland last year on my son's birthday by being one of the first at the gate.

Disneyland and I turned fifty the same year (and I'm NEVER admitting my age again in writing, anywhere!). I got to the turnstile at 8 AM on a day when the park opened at 10. I told every CM who approached that it was my birthday and I wanted to be the first one in the park - pleasantly, with a big grin on my face . At 9, they swept the plaza for security. I made it back to the front of the same turnstile and continued my 'campaign'. About 9:22, a CM came over from inside and had me hand my ticket to the CM at the turnstile, and brought me inside; a family of four came from another direction. We got to "open" Disneyland at 9:30 that day, and we got special stickers.
