How do they handle the bill when on dining plan, group of people, ordering outside of plan?

This is the first time we are going with other people who are also on dining plan.

We will all be getting cocktails, wine with our dinners, which is not included in plan. I know each room is charged for dining credits used, but how do they work the extras?

Do they separate out how much you owe after the dining credits?

Can you pay for the extra charges with cash?

Do you just have one person put the extra on their magic band/charge and pay them back later?

Just figuring out logistics!

They will split the bill however you wish. You just say "these four are on one check, and they are on another." Then you pay for our extras however you wish as well: cash, charge MB, gift card, whatever.

Just be aware that even though they split the check, if your total party is over six, they'll still charge the 18% tip.

Would you suggest each room does their own check - then our own drinks will be on our own checks? Is that possible? It would alleviate confusion! We would be tipping each on our own check then, right? There are only 5 of us, so we need to add our tip. Sorry for the questions, I've never done separate checks before!
