How do they confirm Florida residency for tickets?

Hi everyone! I'm going to Florida in Sept to visit my dad and we would like to do Universal Studios for a couple of days. He actually lives in Florida, but on a boat. I was thinking of buying him the Florida resident pass, but how do they confirm the address to ensure he is a resident of Florida? Thanks! :wizard:

He would need to have a FL state issued ID (driver's license, voter registration card) to qualify for a resident AP. Even though he lives on a boat, he probably has a FL driver's license...right?

Actually he doesn't have a FL driver's license. He is still using his Canadian one as its rare that he rents a car. Ah well, I might as well just get the regular tickets. Thanks for the quick response!

Your dad can also get a state i.d. in lieu of a driver's license. If he's living in Florida he really does need some sort of Florida i.d. to prove residency, not just for Universal, of course, but for state-provided services.

quadaunt - actually I don't think he's ever thought of that! Being on a boat, he goes up and down the coast, he's just been in Florida for longer than expected, but it is a good idea regarding the state id. I'll definitely let him know about it. Thanks!

My mom became legally blind in her 50s and obviously was no longer able to drive. Once her driver's license expired she obtained a state i.d. It was needed for things like obtaining a handicap placard after her spinal surgery, etc. I'd definitely have your dad obtain one.

My niece and her husband own a vacation home in California and Disneyland accepts a utility statement with their name and address on it for purposes of their obtaining the California resident annual pass. Therefore, you may want to check with Universal as to what they will accept as proof of residency.
