How do the Disney Visa rewards add up?

So we just got the new DVC Disney Files magazine and noticed that they're still offering the $100 gift card for using your Disney Visa for the first time. And the thing that really appealed to DH was that you can use your rewards toward annual dues.

So for those who have the card, how do you earn the rewards? Is it something like a point for every dollar? Something more complicated than that? And how much in the way of rewards do you have to earn to really make it worth it?

We're seriously thinking of opening the card, but still on the fence. (Don't need yet another credit card.) But if it can help offset dues and get us other Disney stuff, then it's almost stupid NOT to do it.

Thanks all!

We use ours for large purchases that we have the cash to pay for. We even bought our DVC on the card and then paid it the next month. The points can add up if you use it and pay it off each month. That way you get the points and not the interest. We use our points to pay for park tickets.

We have one and it can really add up as you get $1 for every $100 charged. We use it to charge everything (including my son's college tuition) and then pay the bill off each month.

When you want to use the rewards you have earned, you order a Rewards Card and have the reward dollars transferred to that card. Once you have done that, it acts like a gift card and can be used anywhere!

Matter of fact, I just ordered the DVC one myself--its our 2nd one--just to get the $100.00 GC!!!

While there are certain Visa cards whose rewards program may offer a bigger return, I love it because I know that they are rewards that I will use every year. And, now that I am a DVC member, I am excited to know they can go toward my annual dues!

Plus they often run 3* or 5* deals at times on purchases which sometimes turns it into a 3% or 5% card.

+ also there's a on board credit (usually $50) for using the Disney VISA if you ever do disney cruise

Disney Visa is our primary credit card. We use it for everything, and pay it off every month. We earned enough point last year, between remodeling our bathroom and other purchases, to pay for DDP for 2 adults and 2 kids on our trip last December. I think it's totally worth it!

Yep use it for everything and pay it off at the end of the month.

200 points from may till now.

Can you have more than one? If so then perhaps I should order a second card for just gas and groceries.

Yes, I just ordered the 2nd one in my DH name as primary (with me secondary). Our first one has me as primary and him secondary.

I applied a few weeks ago, got the card in a about 10 days, used it and already received my $100 GC.

We use it all the time:thumbsup2 . Anything I would pay cash for or write a check for I charge to the card. Groceries, gas, etc. I have our cable and phone bills directed billed to the card and also charge things like our car insurance, club dues.....and really anything else I would pay off at the end of the month.

For our last trip we saved our rewards for 18 months and had over 700 to use.

Just make sure you pay it off each month, or you may not really be getting rewards because of the interest you have to pay.

Can someone direct me to where to find this offer? We currently have a Disney rewards visa with my DH as the primary cardholder, but I'd like to get this new offer with me as the primary. Help? Thanks!

There is a link on the DVC member website. That is how I applied.

I ordered the card mostly for the $100 gift card.

For groceries, Chase Freedom gives 3% cash back, and for gas, there is a Discover card that gives 5% cash back.
