How do the characters keep cool?

We were at a local theme park where they have Garfield and Odie walking around doing meet & greets. When we got within a couple feet of them you could hear the fan inside their costumes. It was comically loud and after we walked away my son said "Why was Garfield buzzing?" :rotfl2:

Anyway, it got me thinking, how do the characters keep cool at Disney World? I've never heard anything like that fan so I'm sure Disney has some technology to keep them from passing out.

Anybody know? I'm just curious. :goodvibes

You know the Disney characters are real ;) I am sure the friends of Mickey are given sufficient breaks and many of the character meet n greets are in air conditioned areas :)

They characters are only out for so many minutes at a time and they also are in well covered areas (for the most part). I can imagine they have other mechanisms inside the suit for cooling.

During the Undiscovered Future World tour, we went into costuming and someone asked that very question. We were shown the inside of a suit and the guide said they do not have any sort of cooling devices inside. They are, as kwitcherkicken99 said, only out for a certain amount of time and the guide also told us that for every degree over a certain temp (I don't remember exactly, maybe somewhere in the high 80s), they lessen that time by 5 minutes.

Interesting! I was just curious as I never really thought about it before... after all, they ARE REAL! ;)
