How do point transfers affect banking/borrowing?

If I banked all my 05 points into 06, can I still get a transfer (from another member) of points into 05??

What if I borrowed all my 06 points into 05??? In 06, can I get a transfer from another member?

Also, is there any limit to the ## of points you can have transferred into your account???

Also... do points maintain their original resort identity when transferred and can you take advantage of the 11 month window for the POINTS home resort or your contract home resort (when having points transferred).

I've looked through all my DVC paperwork and couldn't find the source of these rules--- if anyone can lead me in the right direction (with info or which document I can find it in), I'd appreciate it.

Thanks!

AFAIK, the only limit is financial - how many can you afford to pay for? :teeth: You may only transfer in one direction per use year. In other words, if you transfer points into your account for the 2005 use year, you cannot transfer any points OUT of your account for the 2005 use year.

According to the rules, the points are supposed to retain thier original home resort and so you are able to use them at the 11 month window. MS is not easily able to track them, though, so it is a good idea to keep careful track of them and to make the appropriate reservation as soon as you can. You should also allow an extra 24 - 48 hours if you want to use them at their original home resort. Believe their is manual work on MS' part and that is why you need to allow the extra time.

If you don't track the points yourself, they often become your "contract's home resort points" by default. This is a glitch in the computer system and can be exploited (Use non-home resort points at 11 month window for your home resort to get something you otherwise would not be able to get until 7 months). Wish DVC would fix it.

Not sure where the transfer rules are located in the official documents. (AFAIK, they've changed a bit since we joined, anyway). The best summary I've seen is the one disneyberry compiled - look for one of her posts and click on the link in her signature.

Best wishes -

The transfer rules are in the Multi site POS. On page 43 of the 7/03 edition under #6. They have changed slightly for a later edition (or so I've been told) but I don't have it in writing. Just remember that the rules are fluid and can change as well as the fact that DVC is not able to follow them as written.

In reality, banking transferred points is actually easier and more flexible (currently) than doing so with regular points.
