O.k there seems to be discussion on car rentals etc but if you aren't needing a car rental for the duration of your trip or for people like me just going for a 4 night trip to Universal how do you get from MCO to your Loews hotel and back again?
all the suggestions possible?

We used Tiffany Towncar last time and plan to again next time.

We used Florida Tours (fltours.com) for our last 2 trips and will use them again. The driver waits at the bottom of the escalator at the airport, holding a sign with your name on it. They help you collect your bags from the conveyer belt. Then you wait by the curb while the driver gets the car. You can also have a 30 minute grocery stop included for free on the way to the hotel. Payment is normally by cash or traveller's checks to the driver when they drop you off at the hotel. If you want to pay by credit card, you have to make arraingments with Florida Tours prior to your trip.

I used Mears Transportation. It was like $20 each way, the wait was about 20 minutes at the airport, they picked me up right back at the hotel front door. They were on time, and very easy.

We have used both town cars and Mears on our trips. The town car is definitely worth the money if it is your budget. If you don't mind seeing other hotels because there are no other parties going to your hotel Mears is a good fit. Last trip driver went to wrong hotel on our departure to airport and we went to 3 hotels. We will never do that again. Town car or a taxi next time. Trip reports have a lot of information to get around on your vacation

I highly recommend Ed Korgan or Tony from MCO-Taxi. They were great and very reasonable.

I can't remember our exact driver we had on our August vacation, but it was the same company and everything was just fine.:thumbsup2

We used MCO limo service last year and are using Florida Tours this year. The first year we came down we rented a car for a week duru=ing the holidays. (big mistake...very expensive) We found that you do not need one. The limo is way more convenient and alot faster:thumbsup2 Using Fl Tours for the grocery stop.:)

We used Ed Korgan about two weeks ago (11/10-11/14). He was there waiting by the escalator in MCO with my name on a sign. We had a smooth trip over to DoubleTree by the entrance of Universal with many cool jokes. Then, 6:30AM on Saturday, he was waiting outside DoubleTree to take us to Pop Century. Great guy, great service, and great drive. Highly recommended.:santa:

Very glad to hear this. We are using him based on previous reviews, but it's nice to hear again that he is worth it. In fact, he is less than the Mears shuttle we originally booked and we can stop by the store on the way.:cool1:

To those of you who have hired Ed Korgan---

When do you pay him? Do you pay the entire fee when you first meet him or do you pay half on the first trip and the second half on the return trip?

When do you pay the tip?

From what I have read, it seems that his service would be less than a taxi. We have two adults and four children in our party.

Anyone travel with him recently?

Thanks for your help!

Just reserved Ed Korgan for our upcoming trip. Had e-mailed him before and didn't get a response. All of the great reviews motivated me to try again, and this time he got right back to me.

Mirabelle - he said he will collect full payment when he drops us off at our hotel (from the airport). Don't know about the tip - I'm thinking about waiting and giving it all to him when he drops us back off at the airport.

With our being a family of six, his round-trip price is much more affordable than the Mears shuttle. We strongly considered just catching a taxi (seems like the driving cost would be about the same and I liked the idea of not worrying about making arrangements in advance), but I want to stop and get some groceries without a meter ticking and upping the cost!

Thanks for the reply, Tfoster.

I'm used to just catching the Magical Express when we stay at WDW so when I realized that Universal resorts do not provide transportation from the airport, I was a little worried. I don't think that all six of us could fit in a cab with the strollers and luggage.

I think that I will contact Ed regarding our trip.

Thanks!

Same here - used to taking the Magical Express AND worried about not fitting. When we were thinking about the taxi option, I was counting on getting a taxi van and calling for one if necessary. I have to say, though, that I am feeling relieved we have Ed's services in place and that he'll be there waiting for us with a vehicle we will all fit in! :)

How many people and suitcases does his vehicle hold. We are 4 adults and 2 children. Thanks for your response.

Ed Korgan provided roundtrip transportation for my family last week when we stayed at RPR. He charged us $90 and I also gave a tip. It was money well spent. He was excellent.
