I'm waiting patiently to be an owner.. I have sent all my papers and monies just waiting now for the slow sellers to get their paperwork back... ( You would think that selllers would want their money but I digress) Anyway, I'm planning a july trip.. I know that there may not be much availablility so we will need to be flexible.. I have a small contract- only 50 points with 50 banked.. Depending what is available, I may need to get some more points- thinking maybe a transfer... Anyway, when I call to book and check availabilty- can I book all then if I need some points? or do I book what I have the points for and then find a transfer and then call to book again the rest?

You can only book what you have pts for, you could also borrow pts but once you bank or borrow into a certain year they stay there you can't undo it. You get only one transfer per your UY.

MS will only make a reservation for the points that you have available to you at the time of the call.

So, you will have at least 100 and 50 to borrow, giving you a total of 150. If you need more than that, you will only be able to complete part of the reservation. You would then have to get your transfer and call back.

I am sure that you have already looked at some of the optins and how many points you might need, but if you already know that most reservations you will try for will require a transfer, I might do that first.

I'm not sure I would do a points transfer without knowing if I could get accommodations, at this late date. Once you have arranged to get points transferred to you, you have "used up" all your (and your points supplier's) available transfers for the year.

Don't forget...with your 50 banked points and 50 current year points, you can also borrow up to 50 points from your next use year as well. That means you COULD have up to 150 points available for one ressie. I would go that route this time, and then if you want to do another trip next year, you can arrange a transfer in for that. I'd use all the options available with your own points first.
