I inherited a large cake pan from my DMIL earlier this year. The pan is approximately 17" X 12" X 2". I am assuming this is a professional size pan. My question is: How do I use a pan this size for baking a cake? How many cake mixes would it take to fill it? TIA :goodvibes

Sounds like you have a half sheet cake pan. Will take 3 boxes of mix.
Lower the oven temp 25 degrees and add about 15 mninutes to the baking time (check for doneness at that time)

I have never used this size of pan, but when baking a Duncan Hines yellow or white cake I noticed instructions inside of the box for using larger than normal size pans. Take out the cake mix pack and open the box inside out.

Hang onto this pan. It would be expensive to replace.

Thank you both....I had never seen a pan this size. DMIL was a mid-west farm wife in the '50s, '60s, and '70s so she would have had a use for this size pan. I will hang on to it and pass it on to the kids.....thank you! :goodvibes
