How do I put songs on Ipod on computer?

I know I didn't express that very well. Sorry.
DD and I both have new 30gb Ipods. I have Itunes on my computer, she has Itunes on her computer. DD had some songs on her computer that I wanted on my Ipod. I attached my Ipod to her computer and put a good deal of music on.
Now I would like to sync my Ipod with my computer and upload this music onto my computers into Itunes. I am afraid that it will instead wipe out the songs I got from her.
Can anyone tell me if this will be a problem or how to accomplish my goal. I want to end up with my Itunes and my Ipod synced without losing any music.

Not sure if I'm understanding you but I don't think that you can download songs to your Ipod that someone else has downloaded.

You can't do it through the regular iPod, because it will wipe it out. What you need to do is turn your iPod onto disk use, and then put the songs in there as files. Then add them to your computer. Hope that makes sense!

Christine, Most of the songs I got from DD came off her huge CD collection.

Twinkles6892, I am a real newbie with Ipod. How do I put it into disk use? Is there then a setting to change the songs to files?

Disk use option is in the ipod options when you hook up your ipod.

1. connect ipod to your computer, it may sync and you will lose the songs, but the next six steps will fix that.
2.click on ipod, chose options, chose to enable disk use, can't remeber the tab, but it is a check box on one of them.
3. eject ipod
4 go to DD computer and load the files of the songs you want from the her music file, not itunes.
5. go to your computer, connect ipod, open ipod as extra drive, (should be E: F: or G: depending ont he number of drives you have,) in MY COMPUTER window, copy songs to your music file.
6. open your itunes, import song files.
7. update your ipod with new songs.

We used Podutil, a shareware program to get all the songs off our ipods onto our computer after our computer crashed. It worked great. Be sure to read all the instructions though. This article has some very helpful information on using it too:
