Hi all - hoping someone can help this WDW pro who knows nothing about Disneyland but just booked a last minute trip (ok so we cancelled our WDW) arriving on Aug 17 for 6 nights. We are staying at the Disneyland hotel and have a 5 day park hopper ticket. I will browse these boards for information, but for now I need to make our park reservations. I reserve at the park we are starting at, correct? What would you suggest for the reservations, 2 days at one park and 3 the other? Since we have 5 park days, I hope we can go at leisurely place? Ha! We have full 7 days in Disneyland. TIA

Hey, I've been at Disneyland for the first time this week and it's been pretty great. We only did 3 days of tickets and we usually stick with 1 park per day.

With park hoppers though, it's possible to get a boarding group for both RotR and Web Slingers in the same day. However, it's still beneficial to book both parks as starting parks. I'd do 3 Disneyland and 2 California Adventure just because there are more rides in DL.

Here’s our rough itinerary. I’ve changed it since. In my reminders (which are too hard to post) I separated morning and afternoon and switched on and off which park we’d visit first. I think you’ll be able to do more than us. We are a group of 9 with 3 disabled kids aged 2-7. I set it up as 9 am to lunchtime. Then break at hotel and 4 pm til they can’t take anymore. Basically eat and do a ride or two in the evening? We also come annually (pre Covid) and know what are our faves and what we’ll never do again. We aren’t big into parades even if they existed. We may do a character meet n greet or two (whatever they’ll look like) and bibbidi bobbidy boutique. A big (?) around rides with boarding groups and meal reservations.

Now that I'm back home from a 9 day California vacation, I'll be updating it with more info, so check back soon.
Wow 🤩 This thread is amazing!!!
Thank you! Exactly what I need. Will be stalking it regularly;)

Thank you very much! We go to Disney world every year (pre covid) but don’t know anything about Disneyland, this helps very much!
The exciting thing is I don’t know half these attractions!

We fly in from Canada and always get 5 day park hoppers (pre covid) we would spend 3 days on the Disneyland side and 2 days on the California adventure side, but we would park hop like crazy, sometimes multi times back and forth. I like the slower pace than when WDW, as we can take our time, and not have to run from attraction to attraction. If we get bored on one side, we move over to the other side.

We plan to go in November, and have already reserved our 3 days in DL and 2 days in CA, switching back each day (book your reservations 90 days out). We love to get into the parks and have our Starbucks in the morning and watch the crowds come into the park. On the DL side we also try to eat breakfast at either Carnation Cafe or across the street at the Plaza Inn (both are great food venues).

We like using the all day lockers on either side of the park, but would suggest the ones to the left of the CA gates (just in case you have your stuff at the DL side and are over in the CA side). As for rides, we tend to do more sightseeing than hitting the rides, but we do get on at least 6-10 rides every day.

This all sounds awesome, we are looking forward to it. I’m picking our park days as we speak and I’m going to choose 3DL and 2 DCA as per the suggestions. We leave on Aug 17th for 7 days so I think we should have enough time to do most things. I’ve been checking the wait times in the app last couple of days too and the waits are really reasonable as it is.
We’ll probably park hop & go back to our hotel to hang out by the pool especially if it’s hot.
Thank you for all the suggestions!

It seems like Sundays have been light on crowds, so definitely make a Sunday reservation! We went on Saturday and it was a nice day to be there with what seemed like lower crowds than Monday and Tuesday.

Someone on here mentioned that Tuesday costs the least for one day tickets. So that makes sense.
It's still possible to get a lot done in the mornings if you rope drop regardless of the day you go, but the shorter lines throughout the day are the best.

I have just about completed my trip report from last week. We did 2 DL days and 1 DCA day. I nearly rode every DL ride between the two days, and did ride a couple rides twice.

Here it is for anyone interested:

I didn't typically add wait times, especially if they were at or near walk-ons, but hopefully some of the info will be helpful for some here.

If my family was More excited about rides, I could have done them all, but the three days would be great as it'll give you time to do the little things like the shooting gallery in frontierland and enchanted tiki room, etc. I skip most of those things in favor of rides and characters and pictures and food, lol. We used ADRs for most in park meals, which eats time, but gives us a 1 hour air conditioned break without masks.
