How do I know if I should get another dog?

With that said, let's pretend I'm living with my mom forever and money is no object (which technically money is not a huge issue as I already stated) - now answer the original question please.

If your mother wants another dog,it's a non-issue. It's her house.

OP, you sound so much like me!

I was determined to get another dog in the near future and then last week I started thinking twice about it.

DH brought home a tub of stuffed animals from his mom's house. One of them was a very large teddy bear. Chloe has always loved her babies, but let's just say she was loving this teddy bear a little bit too much.

I think she felt threatened by it because of its size. :confused3

Every time she's around it, she starts um, dominating it. I'm a little concerned now that she'll react this way if another dog is brought into the house. It's something I'll definitely have to work on, if I decide to.

Why don't you look into fostering instead? The organizations usually take care of all the expenses while you have the dog, and they're so desperately needed.

Please just be aware that this puppy is most likely the product of a puppy mill or a backyard breeder. No reputable breeder would ever allow one of their puppies to be sold through a pet store. And a labradoodle is a high priced mutt. Nothing against mutts, Ms. Maddie herself is one, and is the best dog in the world, IM(and her)HO. But that's the truth of the matter.
So if you pay big bucks for a pet shop puppy, while you are performing a rescue IMO, they have a lot better chance of finding a home than the pups at your local humane society, who will most likely be put down if not adopted.
Why don't you check them out?
I would never buy a dog from a dog shop like that. True, I look at them a lot and wish I could take one home. But I would first get a dog from a private breeder (as I did Phoebe) or our local humane society.

Fostering?! I know it is a great thing to do but I do not have the heart to do it. I get attached to dogs I play with at the pet store. There is no way in hades I could foster a dog, knowing that at a moments notice it could leave for a new home LOL.

Not necessarily. You always have the option to adopt if the dog works out for you. This is what I was (and may still be) planning on doing.

I know a LOt of rescuers that have adopted some of their fosters.

If you look for Standard Poodle rescue, or whatever breed rescue that you would be interested in, and read the stories behind these dogs, you might have a change of heart.

I admit, it's hard to watch them leave, but knowing in your heart that you saved a dog is priceless. Just a thought...

It is ultimately her decision, I will give you that. But I'm starting to feel like a child who wants another puppy because they are "so cute". Trust me, this is not the case. I'm not trying to sound mean if anyone takes that to be the case, but I do take things personally, and right now, I'm starting to feel like a child.

I am sorry you are feeling like a child.
I have 2 dogs and they are so much more than one.
I know that is hard to understand since you only have 1 dog.
That is all we are saying.

Maybe if they were little dogs, but standard poodles are large dogs. My 15yodd helps me with the dogs and they are not even as big as your dogs is, I am sure.

why do you keep bringing up that money is no object to you? it sounds like you're trying to pretend you have money when you really dont have any. Most people who have money dont keep bringing it up and saying things like, "if more were no object...(well it is almost true money isnt a concern)" you make no sense, come on and tell us the truth. either you have money or dont. and yes you do sound like a child. even though you're 26 you shouldnt pretend to sound so grown up, because you sound and act like a little kid.

I don't really want to reply to your specific post since it looks like I'm not the only person posting on this thread acting like a child, but I keep brining up money because everyone else is telling me the added expense, etc. I'm trying to tell people that it is a non-issue.

BTW, I took a look at your wopping thread count and read all 3 of them - very convenient that they are all threads I have started or posted in. Plus, your name sounds really familiar - weren't you banned from wdwmagic or something for being so mean to other posters?
