I dont even know where to begin.........

I need to loose weight but I cant find the motivation and I will be honest, I like my food too much

I am about 100lbs overweight.

I was told a few years ago by my doctor that if I didnt straighten up that I would not live to see 40 years old....he told me this when I was 24 years old( too young to be hearing something like that)....... I have high blood pressure, high cholesterol and type 2 diabetes which was diagnosed about 3 years ago and I have never done anything about it. I just dont have any motivation , my husband says I just dont care about myself, sometimes I wonder if that is true.....I WANT to loose the weight but I just dont seem to find the time or I have some other exscuse, anyone know what I am talking about?? :rotfl:

Where do I "sign up" for WISH and how do I get started, anyone here like to kick me in the rear and get me going ?? :rotfl:

WISH is here for you!!! We are glad to have you here, and will support you on your journey.

There is a "sign up" thread, I believe.

Otherwise, join a challenge!! I bet you would find a lot of success if you join one of the monthly challenges and make a point of daily logging in and noting your success of the day. Nothing is too small to share. :cool1:

Also, you can start a journal in the journal part of the WISH thread - and people will support you there, too, if you invite them.

You have come to a most wonderful place. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help you!! :cheer2:

(I was away for almost a year, and I am so glad to be back and ready to go again!)

Welcome and take care,
Ashley :sunny:

Welcome to WISH!

You have found the most fantastic place! Everyone here is most supportive and will be here for you as you make the journey to healthy choices.

Motivation must come from within, but you might start as suggested with making some small goals you can achieve. It is not easy, but you are worth it and you can do this. Take one thing at a time and build as you go.

Good luck on your journey. Remember to post often. That will help you and will help the rest of our WISH members. We all need each other.

Welcome to WISH!!! This is an awesome support group!!! I agree with what has already been said - post often, join a challenge, use the journals, etc. The accountability and encouragement really make all the difference in the world! I will PM you with my story - it really is similar to yours. Just know that you are worth the effort, and take baby steps. Looking at the big picture is way too daunting, but 5 pounds at a time is a bit easier. People on here follow many different plans - weight watchers, atkins, body for life, smaller portions, etc. You need to find what works for you, and what you can live with for the rest of your life. Losing the weight is one thing, but you have to make the changes necessary to keep it off. I wish you all the best! We are all here to support each other, so feel free to ask questions, vent, celebrate, whatever! :flower: You can do this!!!! :cheer2:

Thanks you guys! Its nice to see some encouraging words! I dont really have any support at home so this will be hard for me. I think my husband gave up on me, he was buying the diet pills, the diet food, the bikes, the treadmill and I always failed to stick with the exercise or diet so after a few years of this I think he has given up any hope that I will loose weight.

I can tell I will have a lot of support here so I am off to read more and get signed up for a challenge :)

Thanks guys! You dont know what this means to me :teeth:

((TIFFANN)) and fellow Buckeye!!!! greetings from central ohio (Marysville)!!!

i second and third all the great suggestions you have already got. I don't have much to add just wanted to reinforce that YOU ARE WORTH IT AND SO MUCH MORE!!!

your children want you to babysit your grandchildren :goodvibes

sometimes the whole picture is too overwhelming -- may i suggest mini-goals? start with one thing that seems doable for you, maybe it's drinking 64 oz of water each and every day, or walking 10 mins a day on your treadmill. in your mind you probably already know the 'ideal' lifestyle but it just seems too far out of reach -- change one thing at a time and when that change becomes the norm you're ready to decide what you'll tackle next.

and WISH challenges are an awesome motivator!!!

welcome to our WISH family!!

Welcome to Wish! I second what everyone has said about the mini-goals and joining a Challenge. Once you see that you can successfully complete one of them, try another! Best of luck to you!

We will support you! My husband thought he was being supportive by telling me he liked me the way I am, now he understand this is for ME!!!! It has to be for you, not him.

Hi Tiffann4K,

Congratulations on STARTING!! I wanted to tell you that for me I have to have some kind of program to follow, or I get lost. Two years ago I did Weight Watchers Online, no meetings, and lost 45 lbs. Unfortunately I've gained 40 back, but I just signed up again. Counting points works well for me. I know not everyone likes weight watchers, but it really is a big help for me.

Keep up the good work and good luck!
Katy :sunny:

PS I love your kiddos names!

Hi Tiffann and welcome:

First thing go see your doctor and get started on the meds you need for the conditions you listed. I had the exact same problems as you and taking a few pills twice a day is easy. Use the info they provide that will give you a good idea of what you can eat. That makes the diet part of this easy because everything you probably like is on the NO list. It is not really that bad but combining Diet with changes to live longer are intertwined. Sometimes the Diet and exercise have extra results. I will be off my Cholesterol medicine when it runs out this month. Had a lower adjustment in blood pressure and dropped one pill along with 2 changes to Blood sugar meds

Exercise- as other have already listed just start walking. Not a lot at first but keep it up and try to get into a routine. That is alll I do and it works.

Just posting here means you want to do something so make a decision and start. I think everyone here sets some sort of goals be it small or like in my case big jumbo sized. My WDW and UF trip is in early Dec and this year I wanted to fit on everything at IOA. Figured how much I needed to lose then after regaining consciousness stalled until June. This morning I am 5 pounds from trip goal and there were times that I thought I would never get here but here I am.

You might want to start a journal here and if you have time read some of the others (not mine it is really crappy) they are very interesting reading especially when you want a snack.
