How do I check validity of 1-day park hopper cards?

Hi, A neighbor just gave me 2 free 1-day park hopper cards that expire tomorrow. I want to take my son, but I want to know if these cards are valid first. Is there any way to check the validity of the cards? Also, they have another person's name on them. Does Disneyland check I.D.? Thanks!

Ohhh...swing and a miss. I was with you up until you mentioned that. Disneyland tickets are NON-TRANSFERABLE, so if they have another person's name on them, yes, Disneyland CAN check and I have seen them ask for ID's before. Even if they don't ask for ID, using them is a violation of Disneyland policy and therefore we can't promote it on DISboards. Were these tickets that have been used before by your neighbors and just have a day left? Or brand new one-day hoppers? If brand new, they wrote their name, and then decided not to go, then you might have a case.

Yes, Disney checks ID. If the tickets are used, its a no-go.

However, even if they have names on them, if the tickets are unused, then they can be exchanged.

However, I suspect this is a multi-day parkhopper that has already been used, and you're out of luck.

Hubby came home last week telling me of a family who had bogus tickets. Got to the Main Gate and were informed they were no good. I don't know the circumstances but can't imagine thinking We're going to Disneyland and then having to tell the kids sorry.

That's not necessarily true. Hubby works at the Disney Store and we get 4 One Day Park Hoppers twice a year. They all have hubby's name on them but it is perfectly acceptable for him to GIVE them away to someone. We just cannot sell them. It says right on the paperwork they come with that they can be given away, but not sold.

That's why I asked in my post if they are new, unused one-day parkhoppers or multi-day tickets with only one day remaining. I understand that giving tickets as gifts is perfectly alright. I just wanted to clarify what the OP has before saying it is definitely yes or no. The OP did, however, ask if they check ID's and the answer is yes, they can.

Thanks for your responses.

The cards are credit card-style and say '1-day park hopper ticket' on the back, along with the purchaser's name. On the front, the cards indicate 'A' admission on one card and 'C' admission on another and that they're valid at Disney California/Florida/Paris and Hong Kong.

There's a 50% chance of rain in Anaheim tomorrow, so this may all be a moot point anyway. :worried:

eta: These were given to me totally last minute this afternoon. I have no reason to believe they aren't valid. My concern is moreso that I'll be required to show I.D. to get in with them.

Well, in that case, go right ahead.

The tickets you're describing are Cast Member Complimentary Tickets, issued to most Cast Members and employees of The Walt Disney Company and Affiliated Companies biannually. Unlike most Disney Parks tickets, they are exempt from the nontransferable rule and may be given as a gift so long as no cash, services or other form of barter is received in exchange. The name on the tickets is that of the Cast Member or employee to whom they were issued. It is used for internal tracking purposes only - you won't be asked for ID.

The main concern is that they may not be valid anymore. You'll want to check the expiration date listed on the back of each ticket.

If the tickets are unused, ID does not matter. It is only if the tickets were previously used, multi-day tickets that ID matters.

And who cares if its raining? Californians are too scared of the rain! Disneyland is awesome in the rain. Just bring rain gear and have a great time. I'm a Californian now that moved from Florida, and I take advantage of the rainy days. It's like having Disneyland to yourself!

i love it when it sprinkles for about an hour, then comes and goes. That's nice. But when it's a furricane (you know, raining cats and dogs) or that hard, soak-you-to-the-bone rain, I don't go.

Being from Florida, I can usually handle it. I was there two weeks ago on a Sunday night when it was absolutely pouring. It was like having the park to ourselves. Amazing time - had a private Jungle Cruise boat with my group even, and rode multiple rides multiple times without ever having to get off. Well worth the wet socks.

OP, now that we've cleared that up, yes, it sounds like you've been given some special employee tickets, so that's a different case entirely and you would be allowed to use them.

MAH4546, I was there that same Sunday and while it was nice to have no lines, I'll make on suggestion about a ride to SKIP when it's pouring:California Screamin'! It was like being pelted with BB's! I quickly learned why it was a walk-on lol.

Rain is the best time to go.

I am guessing you know your neighbor. I would not think your neighbor would intentionally give you void tickets. Is your neighbor's name the name on the tickets? Given glendalais's reply, does your neighbor work for Disney? It sounds like you will be fine using them. You could always call Disney and see if they can check the validity via the phone.

I think the answers to these questions will guide you on what to do. If you decide to go - have a great time at Disneyland!
