How do families with 2 DAS work now?

If there was someone who couldn't stay alone, there would be no need for two DAS as they'd all have to go everywhere together. I thought part of the point of the changes was to avoid this "double dipping" - where someone (or multiple someones) had two return times going at the same time. OP - I suggest talking to Guest Services. They might be able to override things/rearrange things if there are reasons why the normal rules/procedures don't work for you.

It is. And yes, if no child can stay alone there'd be no reason for 2 DAS. That's why I asked. It's a really unique situation, versus a 2a/2c party who can be split evenly.

It's actually 3 adults only 2 in a park at a time..weird situation, service dog yadayada big headache.

If there are 2 adults and 2 children at any given time, then they'd split each DAS holder with 1 adult. Neither adult would have 2 return times. If all 4 people wanted to ride the same ride both DAS would get a return time for the same ride.

Just 3 adults

Just 3 adults

Oh my fault. But there's only 2 at a time? There wouldn't be a need for 2 return times at once (for the non DAS holder) then if it's the non DAS holder with one of the 2 DAS holders at any given time.

The bigger question would be if the ticket is attached to a DAS or if you just scan the ticket when getting a return time, making the non DAS ticket interchangeable. If it's the former, you'd have to stop by GR and get the ticket reassigned each time there's a party member switch. If it's the latter, there wouldn't be much of an issue.

I'd explain when getting the DAS and see what they say. I haven't seen anyone definitively say which way it works.

If you're doing the two-at-a-time thing because someone needs to stay with the service dog while you're riding (I'm not sure if that is what the "service dog yadayada big headache" means), have you considered using rider switch? It would allow someone to stay with the service dog while two people were riding and then someone else could wait with the dog the person who had been waiting (plus one of the people who already rode) get to ride (without waiting through the full stand-by line). This would mean you could all be together and, as a bonus, the person needing the service dog would be with the dog more.

I know it doesn't address the original question, but just not sure if you knew of the swap option.

Based on post #138 in this thread the non-DAS ticket(s) is not permanently assigned to the DAS-holder except for the purpose of a specific return time. This poster indicates they had to provide the tickets of both the DAS holder and the non-DAS companion to get a return time. Based on that, I would surmise that the non-DAS companion CANNOT have multiple DAS return times at once. But it does not sound like there is any reason to return to Guest Relations to re-assign the companion to a different DAS. That is handled at the kiosks when requesting a DAS return time.

So, OP, if I'm understanding your situation correctly... you will be at DL/DCA in California. You are the non-DAS companion with 2 other adults who each will have a DAS, however only one of them will be in the park at any given time. You should have no problem getting return times along with either of the DAS holders by presenting both tickets (yours and one DAS holder) at the kiosk. However, you will not be able to have a DAS return time on your ticket for each of the DAS holders at the same time. You will need to switch off. As others have stated, you can discuss this at Guest Relations to see if there is anything they can do to help your situation, though it sounds like the electronic DAS return times will not allow any ticket to be assigned more than one at any given time.

Is there a concern with the service dog that prevents all 3 of you from being in the park together? If you wish to share more, people here might be able to help with suggestions about the service dog to alleviate that problem -- if that is the issue.

Enjoy your vacation!

That is my post and is how we found it to work. While we were a party of 4 my DH (non-DAS holder) had a recent concussion and was unable to ride certain rides. Therefore, I (the other non-DAS holder) had to ride with the two kids (both DAS holders) at different times. But I could not be on a return time on each of their tickets at the same time.

For example, if DD was wanting to ride Space Mountain and DS didn't want to ride - I would give the CM at the kiosk my DD's DAS park ticket and my non-DAS park ticket. Both would be scanned and we had a return time for Space Mountain.

If DS was wanting to ride Star Tours with me we would have to wait until my DD and I rode Space Mountain because my ticket was already assigned a time for Space Mountain and then have my DS's DAS park ticket and my non-DAS park ticket scanned for a Star Tours.

Our kids DAS were both issued as parties of 2 each, which worked for us as we rode as either all 4 (2DAS/2non), 3 (2DAS/1non), or 2 which would be either 1DAS/1non or 2DAS (both kids together).

We did not have to return to GS's at any point no matter the configuration of the parties planning to ride as long as they fit in the number of guests we originally listed (in our case 2 guests per DAS). But at no point could any ticket (DAS or non) have more than 1 return time assigned to it at any given point.

Thanks for the first hand account. Very helpful!
