How do BWV NOT have USB’s in the rooms!?

Seriously! How do these rooms not have any USB chargers in any of the rooms or outlets near any of the beds??!

Stayed at yacht club last night, and while I know it’s not DVC, there were about 20 USB outlets in our room. This isn’t a lot to ask for as an “upgrade”. Sorry, just frustrated by this among a few other things this trip.

Seriously though, it is frustrating. We usually stay in the one bedrooms at BWV and there isn't even a convenient spot in the living room. We generally end up doing all of our charging in the kitchen.

Yes, we stay 1BR BWV and there is at least one unit with USB’s in the bedroom lamps. But it might be just the one. 😂. If you stay in a studio, you don’t even have a table on one side of the bed to put your phone or glasses on. Currently in a 1BR BWV. View is great, but seriously starting to question the “deluxe” aspect of DVC. Between our dues and everything else, we would probably spend the same at Yacht club for a week on cash.

I just travel with a wall charger (AC plug on one side & USB on the other) and then don't worry about it. They are not expensive & don't take up any space to speak of in my carry on. You can get them with mini USB and USB C, too.

Most actually do on the night stand but some of the Boardwalk view rooms that were the first to be refurbished missed out having the USB's on the night stands. I'm not certain if it was just a few or all of them.

It’s totally fine and we do travel with them, but when there is no outlet next to the beds, it’s difficult to charge. Especially with the 7am wake-up now for Genie +,
They make you use your phone.

Actually, it’s not fine. For the amount we pay, this is seriously outdated to many of the less expensive options out there.

I was not aware that Yacht Club has one bedrooms with full kitchen and washer/dryer for the same price. Interesting.

We usually stay at Boardwalk, both studios and one bedrooms. Did you check the lamps for built in plugs? That’s where we usually plug our chargers into....we also bring the wall chargers with us. And I though there was a nightstand between the bed and couch in the studio. Maybe I’m remembering wrong.

I don’t have any built in USB chargers in my home. Will have to look into it.

Well, here is the current situation. Not one usb or outlet near the only bed in the 1BR. And if you and the person you are sharing a bed with wear glasses and are in a studio, it’s kind of a pain to crawl over them to get your glasses so you can see where you’re going to find your phone.

You can stick up for the DVC boardwalk rooms all you like. I do love the boardwalk, don’t get me wrong. It’s my home resort. But there comes a time when you need to face reality and admit they are outdated with simple amenities compared to many rooms out there. A yacht club room is far and above a Boardwalk studio.

What an odd thing to say.
You said you were in a one bedroom and also said you could stay in Yacht club for same amount of money....so it seemed you were comparing one bedroom to one bedroom. Cash wise a studio is a little more per night but you get a kitchenette.

You were already aware of the fact that some rooms don’t have the USB ports. We move around a lot at Disney and also stay offsite for a night or two and never know what to expect so always pack wall phone chargers and an extension cord or power strip. An extra plug is always needed for the c-pap. And the iPads and chrome books. I have a typewritten, alphabetized Disney packing list so I don’t forget anything.

Enjoy the rest if your stay.

The thing is that being a timeshare, the schedule for updates is set so not the same as what happens to update hotels.

These changes would be part of a soft goods refurb.. so hopefully that is soon for BWV.

We had the same issue when we stayed in a BLT studio for the first time in December. The alarm clocks they used to have in the rooms had the usb charge outlets but since they got rid of those now you need a wall adapt. I actually just bought a combo usb/outlet extension cord power cube on Amazon so I never have to worry about it again that will come with us on every trip.

I mean . . . you could stay in a Residence Inn 5 minutes from Disney that has a full kitchen, living room and bedroom for $200 a night. With lots of USB outlets and just as clean / updated as a BWV room. So, the OP does have a point.

We have lots of built in USB chargers in our home. Most people do now a days. They cost twenty bucks and are super easy to install yourself.

I think it's a fair point to say that these rooms are nowhere near deluxe, especially for what you pay.

We do bring our charging blocks and a large combo block because we have a cpap user. But we also brought a 6ft extension cord this time so that we can charge on both sides of the bed. So, yes we are aware of the situation and planned for it. I just think it’s ridiculous because it’s not an expensive “upgrade” when they basically force us to use our phones in the parks now.

Apparently some of the rooms at Boardwalk have the built in USB ports and some do not. My wife and I stayed in a 1 bedroom at Boardwalk over Thanksgiving and in addition to the nightstand having 2 USB ports 1 wall outlet also had USB ports.

What is that weird thing with the number keys on the table next to the lamp??

Hotels have to update to continuously attract customers.

Timeshares gotcha.

Timeshares also promise a room at a semi reasonable price for the life of the contract. That comes at a certain price point.

They are up for a full refurb next year some time. Assuming no more delays. I think only Boulder Ridge rooms are older right now(on WDW property at least). I cant see DVC getting to all of the rooms scheduled for 2023 though. 2016 was a refresh/upgrade flurry.

At least at BWV the point cost is pretty low.

Okay, but DVC accommodations are also available for cash stays, just like the regular hotel rooms. I just canceled a reservation for the first week in March because we've decided to put off travel for a while longer. The reservation I had was for just shy of $1000 per night for a 1 bedroom. At that price point, maybe a USB port and a sofa without stains isn't too much to ask? But I'll rebook it for next year regardless so I guess I'm part of the problem.
