How do Busch Gardens and Universal celebrate Halloween?

I'd love to know if Busch Gardens or Universal do anything special for Halloween like MNVSHP? Would love to hear opinions from anyone who has been!

Haunted Horror nite at Universal... I have heard this is no cupcake event....I havent been to it...because i hear the park is dark...and foggy and people jump out at you....

I will stick to the NOT so scarry version of halloween...but the rest of my family loves the horror nites

Busch Gardens has what is called "Howl-O Scream" and it is like Universals Halloween Horror night. I have never been to either but I have a few friends that have. At both places they have Haunted Houses and the such along with actors jumping out at you and trying their best to scare the heck out of you.

Universal Halloween Horror Nights are great !! I've been twice before and plan to be there for this years version too !

They change certain of the shows to suit the mood, there are performers in all sorts of Monster/Horror film character outfits who stalk the park and do creep up/jump out on unsuspecting visitors - I never saw my mum move as fast as the night a Mummy put his hand on her shoulder when we stopped on a bench for a break - and there are some attractions specifically set up for the Halloween nights. The dark is a little darker than usual, and fog machines get put to good use too.

Its been a few years since I was there for Halloween, but the formula seems to be pretty similar according to people who I know who have been in the last few years. None of it is going to be scary enough to upset/really frighten most people, its all good fun and except for really young ones, I'd have no worries about taking kids along.

Busch Gardens on Halloween, now that sounds fun ! The Kumba and Montu in the dark.... COOL !!!

My son is 3...He is a daredevil....very brave boy....HE does things...MOMMY wont do...

BUT ...he is still 3 and monsters are still a bit scarry when they jump out at you...

I would imagine that the characters would NOT approach littler ones that are there.

Yes Bella, I'd be quite relaxed about taking a 3yr old.

The performers seemed sensible about who they would choose as "victims", and I dont recall ever seeing a child upset or in distress because someone in the parks' employ frightened him or her.

And as your little guy sounds quite a cool character, I'm sure he'd really enjoy all the new sites and sounds ! In fact he sounds like he could terrorise a few of the monsters himself !

So how does this work?Assuming you are at IOA during the day, do you pay an addtl. amt. to stay for the Halloween event? Do you have to exit the park and reenter?Anyone know the cost for the Hallloween Horror night? Thanks

The parks close about 5:30pm during the HHN days. HHN officially starts at 7pm. You must have a HHN ticket to attend and it IS more, $49.95 a ticket.

BELLA1, mommyinmd, everybody...
No I would not bring a 3 year old to Halloween Horror Nights (or Howl-O-Scream at BG-Tampa either). I have gone to HHN last year and the year before and yes I HAVE seen children completely terrified and shrieking uncontrollably, and very surprised and upset parents getting their lil' ones out of there real quick!

Imagine a movie studio turning a whole theme park into a HUGE Haunted Maze / Haunted House / Horror movie scene (emphasis on horror).

I AM glad that you are asking because I'm afraid it seems that some don't. If you'd like to get more response on this question, you will get good ones on the Universal Studios / Islands of Adventure Board as well.

Must agree with grumbada. Universal's HHN is not for young children, or older children who startle easily, or adults who do not like wild, crazy and lots of people drinking lots of alcohol!

Can it be fun? Sure, if it the sort of thing you like, but it is definitely NOT for everyone.
