We are trying to decide where to buy our resale points.

We know we want to stay at the BWV and the BCV most of the time and we know we want to stay mid Dec and/or end May.

So, I notice alot of good deals happening at SSR. Would I ever be able to book a studio or 1bd.rm at BWV or BCV for those dates if I bought at SSR?

Thanks,
Melani

Mid-Dec (actually all of Dec) and end of May (Memorial Day time) are high DVC demand times and it can be difficult to get BCV or BWV 7 months out.

December is going to be tough if you don't have the 11-month window. May will be easier. You can always go on the waitlist for December, but there are no guarantees.

IMO, if you know that you're going to want to stay at BWV or BCV I'd buy resale points there and I'd probably go with BCV since it is a much smaller resort.

You can always try, read the post on this list, a lot of peopl ehave been lucky. Though I wouldn't count on it.

Early May wouldn't be as difficult as any time in Dec. Actually, from Oct through early Jan can be difficult outside of your home resort. That said, you might still be able to change to a non-home resort at 7 months, but it wouldn't be a sure thing.

If staying at BCV or BWV is something you think you'll want to do on a regular basis, buy points there.

But if you can't make a reservation greater than 7 months out (or less) and don't really mind where you stay, any points will meet your purpose.

Yes, I'm certain we want to stay at either BCV or BWV 90% of the time.

We are looking to stay 6 -8 nights in the last 2 weeks of May- 1st week of June (which may or may not include Memorial Day) and the 3rd week of Dec (15th -23rd -ish).

Planning is my middle name. Granted things never go as planned, but I keep trying anyway.

Buy where you want to stay. Also, you can buy BCV or BWV directly from DVC but you will have to waitlist for them and will pay more.

I agree buy where you want to stay... this way you never have to worry!!!:cheer2:

If you want to stay at either BCV or BWV in December, you need to own there -as many have already posted, that's a very popular time and there are literally thousands of members trying to switch to those resorts at the 7 month window. You may be one of the lucky ones, but IMHO,you will be disappointed more often than not.

My advice -

Decide which resort (BCV or BWV) you want for December vacations and buy it. Then stay at your home resort in December and the other in May. May is one of the easier months to book at 7 months.

We bought at SSR, closed in June and at the end of June (6 months out)we were able to book a Boardwalk View studio room at BWV for December 24-28. I was very surprised and it just goes to show that it can happen. Obviously no guarantees.

We own at OKW but I book at BWV all the time. As long as you are diligent about booking one night at a time as the 7 month window opens, you will get it. I think the only weeks that may be impossible is Easter and Xmas. We usually book during March or April (school vacation weeks for the Northeast).

I was on vacation this summer when the 7 month opened so I forgot to book the reservation. I booked the reservation when I got back which was about 2 weeks into the 7 month window. We got the BWV, but it was preferred versus standard.

They did the same thing for us four years ago when we bought in, I think that they have rooms set aside for such events. We always book at our 7 month window at BWV, but always a 1 bedroom, we have had a real hard time getting the studios. I wish that we would have bought into the BWV instead of SSR, not that it is not a very nice place but we love the atmosphere of the Boardwalk, Epcot area. I wish we could book regular rooms at Boardwalk and use point there. I see points at BWV in the future!

We've been able to do BCV in May and October at the 7 month. And BWV in September.

Unfortunately, for me, BCV has been very hard to get, for a studio at least, and my waitlists have never come thru there. A couple times when Southwest has had a big fare sale, I've tried and never gotten BCV (this is about 5 months). However, I have always gotten BWV, usually the view I want. Otherwise, the waitlist there has always come thru.

In choosing between BWV and BCV, you may want to consider if you'll be wanting to take advantage of Stormalong Bay.
You can stay at BCV and have the use of SAB, but not possible to use SAB if you are staying at another resort.
Also, as previously posted, BCV is smaller and generally more quickly booked.

Well I'm convinced.

Now the only question is which pool would we enjoy more. The kids are 10, 6 & 2 now. They enjoy BB and TL, but I'd rather just use our resort pool.

WITHOUT A DOUBT SAB!!
We have stayed at both on rented points..and our sons were 6 and 8 this past august when we stayed at Beach Club.. and 5 and 7 when we were at BWV.. SAB has a great water slide.. and a awsome sand/play area for toddlers.. the bottom of the pool is sand in a certain area and toddlers and younger kids can build sandcastles.. its awsome.. I swore id never stay anywhere else.. but we just bought DVC at AKL and were given a 160 Developer points for free that we have to use only at Saratoga if going to Orlando so we may spend 5 days there next year.. but both BWV and BCV are great but for kids BCV hands down..
