My DH and I are on the verge of buying into the DVC.:yay: We love the BC so plan to buy there. However we would also like to stay at the other DVC properties every once in a while. Is it difficult to get reservations at resort other than your home resort?:confused3 We do not travel during peak times.

One example we are looking at is WLV the first week of December.

Thanks so much!:)

VWL is very hard to book at 7 months out for December. BCV is very nicely decorated for the holidays as well. Book at BCV and then try to change, but staying at VWL in December is something many many DVCers try to do.

PS. To stay at a non-home resort could be easy or difficult depending on which non-home resort you want. SSR and OKW may be easier to book, but probably not their Grand Villas. BWV is larger and so may be more easily gotten, and AKV will also be large and may have certain rooms available, but maybe not Concierge, value or GV's.

The only non-peak DVC times are late January, early February, early May, late August, early Sept. Any other time and you could have problems.

We have not had any problems booking any resort at 7 months out. Including the peak times listed and all summer even at Beach Club for June, July and early August. We always book a 2 bedroom so that might make a difference.

Now we might just be lucky but we have done this for years and again this summer and actually I did not even call exactly at 7 months out, it was closer to 6 months.

All I can say is give it a try. Good luck. I agree book your home resort as a back up and then try to move at 7 months and you might have to wait list.

I think the WLV the first week of December is probably the 2nd hardest week to book 7 months out at! Hardest is any of the "smaller" resorts over Christmas/New Years.

To give you an idea, we bought in WLV last year in Feb 06 from Disney Direct. We called for 1st week of Dec at the 10 month mark, and were put on a waitlist.

Besides those weeks, you should be ok to do 7 month at most resorts, though you may have to waitlist.

The first week of December has become the hardest for me. Fortunately we have decided to go at other times of the year.

May has never been a problem for me and February has been super easy as well. I actaully had little trouble getting a good choice in October/Nov about 5 months out.

So there is no cut and dry answer ;)
