We are thinking about DVC at SSR or AKL. However I would like to be able to try out all the resorts. And I especially have and interest in the BCV. It sounds like it is almost impossible to get a two bedroom there because there are so few. We are only going to buy 160 pts so we can go on vacation everyother year. But if we had the oppurtunity to purchase someone elses points to insure a vacation there, how hard is it to get a reservation? I know we could do a resale but the fact that we will lose 15 years just for me doesn't sound like a great investment or is it????

If BCV is where you wish to stay most of the time, then that is where you should buy your points. You will need to be on a wait list, but Disney usually will sell points for ANY of the DVC resorts. It's just that you might not be able to get BCV as soon as you contact your guide, like you could the rest.

If you mean that you want to stay there occationally, then yo might try exchanging reservations with someone who owns at BCV. As long as you can be flexible with dates, I think you can stay at any of the DVC resorts within reason. If you MUST have something specifically during the food and Wine festival or at any holiday time, then it will be more difficult, but you can always book at your home resort (SSR or AKV), and waitlist for the reservation you desire at BCV. If it doesn't come through, you still have a WDW reservation, so nothing is lost.

I don't understand your question (s). Are you asking which resort you should buy? Or whether it's possible to rent a reservation? Or ???

Just for the record, you don't lose anything buying resale. The contracts expire when they expire...whether you buy them direct from Disney or resale. The expiration date has nothing to do with how the contract is purchased.

I think the OP is saying that they want to purchase at SSR or AKV because they want the extra years on the contract, but that they're afraid they may have trouble getting into BCV at the 7 month window. So, even though they own at SSR or AKV, they want to know how hard it is to rent points from a BCV owner so that they can get into BCV at the 11 month window.

If I understood correctly.....

If you want to stay at BCV most of the time, buy at BCV. Then you'll be in control of your own points and will not be dealing with the uncertainties of the renting process.

I understand that you feel you'd be missing out on the extra years by buying at BCV...but what's the value in having 15 extra years at a resort that you don't really want to use? That sounds like a bigger waste of money to me.

I'm also not sure what you're planning to do with your SSR or AKV points, if you're renting to get a BCV reservation. I guess you'd need to rent or transfer them out, but that's a heck of a lot of work.

In short....why buy a very expensive timeshare that you don't plan to use?
