Pre-pandemic, they were usually readily available at 7-months out from May through August, and that included holidays during those months. For 2021 and 2022, there have been some times during that period, when they they were shown as full before 7-months out. Likely that is a factor of (a) members wanting to get back as soon as they can after not having reservations for so long, (b )the excess banked points issue (members accumulated a lot of banked points during the pandemic that need to be used). Also, in the last few years,
DVC has been doing annual point shifts, which have raised the points needed to reserve per night in the fall season, while lowering them from May to August. The full effect of those point changes has not yet been realized and 2023 reservations may be a key year to watch for changes in prior demand patterns, e.g., first half of May has decreased in points needed significantly, now becoming one of the least point-cost times of the year
