How did you rationalize that your resort was the best bang for the buck? Let us count the ways.

BWV studios are significantly less points than Beach Club so I can get close to 40 percent more staying power in my go-to studios, M-F.

AUL cheap resale buy-in and across life of the contract, unique theme and location amenities, will return each year and easily pass on to heirs if needed.

VGC only buying a few points. There's nowhere else I can stay as close to this with a view of 7 rides. It is always going to be in demand and an easy resell. Cheap dues.

😂 your turn!

SSR because when we bought it was significantly less expensive than other resorts to buy into. We are fine if we "have" to stay there but we stalk enough to get pretty much whatever we want.

That’s so funny. I did something similar. I went from BWV which I got based on location and value for rooms to flipping that for VGF. Even though I got a great price in that March sale, the point cost is brutal compared to the BWV charts. Don’t regret it one bit though and we’re very excited. Good thing about DVC is that we can can still visit those Epcot resorts.

To the extent I calculated a value for VGF I told myself the contract would around double the time that BWV was and low maintenance fees. You really sell yourself on any resort.

We impulse bought BLT direct when it was being initially sold by Disney when we were on vacation.
We impulse bought a BRV resale after having dinner at WL.
See a pattern? 🤪

SSR was the only place we tried to financially rationalize. It was cheap buy in resale, and the points chart was great. Plus we like to stay there! It's walkable to DS, and laid back.

I have bought and sold over the years and finally at the place to own what makes me happy.

So, for me, I get the best bang for my buck because when I am at those places, I’m getting exactly what I want!
Same.

We have Riviera because it's awesome, was a good deal, has the Skyliner, and expires in 2070.

We have Beach Club because it's awesome, was a comparatively good deal, has SAB, and expires in 2042.

We have Old Key West because it's awesome, was a good deal, the grand villas are fabulous, and expires in 2057.

BWV for access to 2 parks and low points charts. Resale value (expiration) not an issue for us. We were able to buy far less points to reach a breakeven vs our moderate resort stays very quickly. Just a few years in and we are flush on buy-in when accounting for the AP savings we were able to take advantage of as well.

SSR to snag a couple nights near MK or be walking distance to DS for split stays. This will break even faster since we've used for Poly, Riv and BWV and potentially VGF later this year.

I feel very lucky that the rooms with the highest point charts just naturally don't appeal to me the most. I'm good with a couple nights somewhere else occasionally with SSR points.

As a side note, I was able to stay at Coronado on a CM discount recently (50% off) and it was still more per night than what my typical room stay is when using DVC. I enjoyed my stay, but it definitely made me appreciate my DVC even more.

Currently trying to justify a 3rd home resort with a longer expiration, but not sure I can. If I loved VGF, I'd have probably been able to make that math work.

Started out wanting the cheapest buy-in....should have been SSR, BRV or OKW, but when it was all said and done; I bought at The Poly. Simply put - No kids, no plans of having any either so I'm not busting my tail to save for anyone's college education, no need to "pass this on to anyone (although my nephew is welcome to it when I kick the bucket) and this is what I wanted to spend my money on. Doesn't necessarily make sense on the spreadsheet, but you can't quantify satisfaction in Excel.

Bought PVB via resale in 2018/2019. Based on the history of 2042 resorts, I will most likely be able to take 25 years worth of vacations there, and still be able to sell the contract for more than what I paid for.

Then they announced the resale restrictions...

Guide tried to sway us to Poly or Aulani, then the on-sales, when we bought in 5 years ago.

We wanted VGF and no other so bought direct off-sale, not even knowing the resale market existed.

And about a year later, added another 25 VGF points the same way. Still didn't know about resales.

What does "rationalize" mean? I don't think we know. < sly wink & grin >

Price per point combined with points per night with a bit of expiration date thrown in.

We wanted to be walkable to either Magic Kingdom or Epcot. We wanted the resort to have studios, one bedrooms, and two bedrooms available. That knocked out everything but GFV, BLT, BCV, and BWV.

The Grand Floridians points per night were so high it knocked it out.

We tend to go to Epcot more times per trip than Magic Kingdom. lots of evening dinners. So we knocked out Bay lake Tower.

Boardwalk was edged out by Beach Club on amenities and location. We were able to find a cheap contract at Beach Club and went for it instead of Boardwalk.

While VGF and "bang for your buck" aren't always mentioned together, there are a couple financial reasons why we decided on it (the others are purely location based and/or nostalgic):

1. relatively lower dues
2. as the "premier" WDW resort, it should hold its value; especially now with the walking path
3. couldn't pass up the opportunity to add on at $197/pt

When we bought in, the walking path was only a rumor, but that obviously helps as well. The unmeasurable emotional side is that's where I proposed to my wife, so that counts for something as well, right??
