How did you convince someone to visit WDW with you?

I showed my reluctant nephew pictures of the DVC resorts we could stay at (ended up at AKL - Savana view - June 2019) and told him about all the non-ride things that Disney had to offer - he was mostly coming because his wife wanted to bring their 2 girls - my sister (his mom) also came but her husband (in the NoWay would I want to go to Disney ever camp) stayed home. We ended up having such a great time that we’re all going back in June - including my sisters husband!

I ask once, and if they say no, I leave it be.

Pestering people until you wear them down isn't fun for anyone, least of all the recipient.

Also, three years away? I don't want people asking me to commit to plans in three months, let alone three years. Let it be.

Two words: Star Wars.

That is what worked for me. I've wanted to go since I was a kid in the 70's watching Wonderful World of Disney. Every significant other hated the idea. I even floated the Disney idea to DH for Honeymoon. We had a daughter. I floated the Disney idea when she was young. About a year before I would have mandated a Disney trip using daughter as an excuse, DH said, "Disney is building A Star Wars area. We need to go one year after they finish it." Now that trip has been postponed to 2022 when everything should be back. 40+ years after I wanted to go.

I think one way to convince the reluctant to go with you would be to pay for their trip. “Free” is a pretty magical word. But I don’t think I’d want to pay that much for someone who may or may not appreciate it. So I’m in the camp of “tell them about things at Disney they may enjoy” whether it’s the rides, pools, Star Wars, characters, camping, shows, etc. And if they still aren’t into it, let it go. Dragging someone along that isn’t interested won’t be fun for either of you.
