How did you choose your Officiant

Hi,

My finance and I are in need of some more help. We would like to have a non-religious wedding. Does anyone know if the ministers, reverends, pastors, or rabbis on the recommend officiant list Disney sends out will do a non-religious ceremony? If not, does that mean we are left with only the two notaries on the list? :confused3
Has anyone done a non-religious ceremony at Disney? Who and how did you choose the officiant? Do you have any recommendations?
Any insight on the subject of picking an officiant for a ceremony(religious or not) would be so helpful. I am really worried about picking someone without actually meeting them, and the only contact being through email or over the phone. I mean this person is going to marry you and the first time you are going to meet them is on your wedding day. :worried:

Thanks,

I did Rev. Jack Day's "New Civil Ceremony" it was perfect for us. There is a Notary on the preferred Disney list, but he just kept telling us how he had a wedding before and after ours and we had heard others complain that they felt rushed. I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE Rev. Jack Day! Highly recommend him!

We had Rev Kevin Knox, and he did a non-religious ceremony for us. We looked through a number of other brides pictures and contacted with the officiants that we liked out of those. Who felt like the most comfortable fit for us. Kevin Knox responded quickly with a big information packet on ceremony options. We were lost as to what to do with the ceremony, so that made us feel very comfortable that the whole thing was so easy to set up that way.

We chose Rev Jack Day. I had heard lots of good reviews from other Disney brides and after looking at each officiant's website, I thought Rev Day was the best fit. I spoke to him and he is just the sweetest man and I think will do a wonderful job with our wedding. He does also do non-religious ceremonies and you can also customize the ceremony.

He's adorable! My grandma said "He reminds me of Friar Tuck"

Thank you all for your quick responses! :goodvibes I'm so happy and relieved to know that other people have had positive experiences with their officiants and did not have to stick with the notaries on the list. My fiancee and I will now have an easier time choosing the right person for our day. Thank you again for the recommendations!

If you contact a few of the 'reverends' most will send you an information packet with sample ceremonies including non-religious civil ceremony, some brides have even written or tailored their own.

We picked Rev. Miller after we saw Summer's video (it was on our STVS sample that we got).

We first wanted Teresa Knox but after taking our deposit, came back and told me she had to go on a cruise with some clients! We did get the deposit back but it really angered me at the time.

Anyway, we had a non-religous ceremony with Rev. Miller and we were very happy with him.

We do not regret our decision one iota! :thumbsup2

My BFF was ordained for free online and married us. Just throwing that out there for you. Then you can make your own ceremony as well.
