How did R&B singer Peabo Bryson get connected with Disney movies?

I always wondered how R&B singer Peabo Bryson became connected with Disney movies? I know that Beauty And The Beast with Celine Dion was his first ever Disney movie duet and then he later would do A Whole New World with Regina Belle for Aladdin. I did read a story that Peabo Bryson was gonna sing Beauty And The Beast solo originally but when Celine Dion was working on her second English language album at the time Peabo Bryson was very interested in Celine Dion's singing and talent and he asked Disney if they could audition together to sing Beauty And The Beast as a duet and they did and "as Paul Harvey liked to say" that was the rest of the story. But I didn't know who Regina Belle was until I heard Peabo Bryson sing A Whole New World with her and I liked Regina's singing and became a fan. And it seemed that ever since those two Disney songs became hits Peabo Bryson was gonna be in high demand for Disney songs and duets. But Peabo Bryson should've sung If I Never Knew You from Pocahontas with Shanice instead of Jon Secada because they would've made a great team. But Peabo Bryson made a comeback by singing As Long As There's Christmas from Beauty And The Beast The Enchanted Christmas with Roberta Flack and that hit a home run for Peabo Bryson. What other Disney songs did Peabo Bryson do in his career? Did he do any Disney songs for the Disney Parks shows as well?

I think for Disney sticking Peabo Bryson in their movie soundtracks was a smart move because it simply gave Peabo Bryson more superstardom because he was very successful in the R&B market. But as I mentioned before Disney should've chosen Peabo Bryson to perform If I Never Knew You with Shanice for Pocahontas instead of Jon Secada and that would've been a smart move for Disney to do. Why they went with Jon Secada rather than Peabo Bryson for If I Never Knew You I'll never know
