How did I not know that Disney tickets are cheapest at AAA?!?!

I pride myself on being a great bargain hunter and for years I have used the Touring Plans Disney ticket price comparison tool to find the cheapest reseller. This past spring break I realized that the hotel we always stay at had AAA rates that would save us $250 which would more than make up for the cost of the AAA membership. I hadn't explored the AAA webpage until yesterday and I saw that they sell theme park tickets including Disney! I would have saved $40 on 2 adult 3-day hoppers for our May 7-9 trip and $140 on 5 adult 6-day 1 park per day for our June trip.

I've been on these boards for years and if there have been any AAA discussions I have missed them so I just wanted to post this PSA in case it helps someone.

I believe a lot of the ticket discounts through AAA are regional -- there are some regions with good discounts but it is not national. WDW and AAA split ways several years ago now so while there used to be some really good deals through AAA, not so much anymore. I'm glad you found some good savings for your family.

Yep, me too. I used to get some good deals with them but I've found the authorized resellers have better deals now. I do use my discount for food at Swan/Dolphin and sometimes their room rates are less for AAA members.

I haven't done it lately, so maybe things have changed, but AAA used to also have some exclusive extras thrown in to their WDW packages. A couple that I've done during the years have been cookie decorating in Epcot (private room in Imagination, ours were the only kids there. Many Toy Story characters showed up and my kids had their full attention); another one was the story "Aladdin" read to a group of children by Aladdin himself. Photos and autographs afterwards.


AAA used to have their own, free parking lots, too, but I think that went away. They were right next to the handicapped lots, so very close in to the parks.

I’ve always gotten good prices through AAA. I’d also compare against COSTCO too.

Also make sure you are comparing apples to apples so far as taxes and shipping fees go.

You need to make sure you compare your specific ticket needs (as well as taxes and S&H as a pp said) as just because one place has park hoppers cheaper they may not have other tickets as cheap. A few years back I compared tix From Dis (using Dis GC's from Target to get 5% off), AAA, and UT. I compared both one day per park tix and park hoppers. For 6 day Hoppers AAA had the best price but for one park per day Dis had the best deal. For 5 day UT had the best price on both types. I may have who had the cheapest tickets wrong but you get the idea. I do know though that Dis was the cheapest on one type of ticket.

Question for people who have bought from AAA. When you get your voucher do you get a ticket number you can enter into MDE any make park reservations?
