If a restaurant's child menu doesn't include appetizers (e.g. Le Cellier), do we give up the child's appetizer that is supposedly included on DDP or do they order an adult appetizer? We'll be sharing sometimes and need to know when DH and I will share an adult TS and when DS and DD will share a kids TS. (Yes, I know they don't distinguish adult and kid meals but it keeps my planning on track to think that way. ) TIA for how you handled child DDP meals when there weren't all three courses on the menu. I'm such a control freak that I'm more comfortable without DDP even when it's free, but free means extra WDW trip this year :cheer2: so I'm learning to cope - maybe...

If the child menu doesn't include appetizer (or dessert) they can order from the adult menu.

I can tell you from experience (last week at Coral Reef) that they will still bring the child the full adult-size serving. The adult appetizer was like a meal in itself for the kids!

Some places will let him pick from a limited selection of the adult appetizers
Some places will let him pick any adult appetizer.
Some places will not let him have an appetizer.

what places will not allow it? i thought disney put it in writing that if no child appetizer was offered that the restuarant needed to offer an adult appetizer.

after all, the meal plan states VERY CLEARLY that an appetizer is included with every child's TS

Do you know which one are which? We are going in Aug. and I would be interested to know which restaurants will not let him have an appetizer. Thanks for the info.

It states no such thing. It CLEARLY STATES CHILDREN MUST ORDER off the child's menu and is silent as to what happens if the child's menu doesn't offer an appetizer. In response to emails Disney responded that the appetizer was referring to what an adult can order and that children are limited to whatever is on the children's menu.

Cannot_Wait_4Disney gave the correct answer. Alfredo's is one of the restaurants that offers children no appetizer. Most of the Disney restaurants have added a child appetizer, sometimes just a salad, to avoid complaints.

From various reports - It can vary from CM to CM also.

formernyer's child was recently allowed an adult appetizer at CR.

Last fall my DD was not allowed one, but it really didn't matter to us. WCC also didn't have a kid's appetizer at that time.

This could be a result in a change at CR, or possibly just a difference between the CM's.

Last year we had the Candlelight processional package which is the same ap/entree/dessert/drink and at Marakesh DD was not able to get an appetizer since there wasn't any on the child menu and the only dessert she could get was a scoop of icecream. We had 4 adult age diners also so we shared with DD but I wouldn't go back there again with a dining plan meal.

These are true as of the last time we went.
Ca Grill would not let the child have an appetizer.
Marrakesh would not let the child have an appetizer.
Le Cellier did not let the child have an appetizer.
Spoodles let him have an adult flatbread but none of the others. They also had only the make your own sundae as a child's desert.
They've since added a child's appeitzer menu.

It seems a lot of the world showcase places are not giving appetizers.

Le Cellier did not let the child have an appetizer.

We went last year in October and had free dining and Le Cellier let both of our kids (6 and 4 at the time) order an adult appetizer. More proof that it varies from CM to CM. :confused3
