With 15,000+ folks arriving by ship, and the other arrivals by other means, are all the beaches / activities very crowded?

Wednesdays are our highest cruiseship days here in Cozumel. Yes, some attractions will be quite crowded. Waterfront shopping, Chankanaab and Playa Sol will be most affected.

Your best bet is to rent a car and drive to the other side of the island. Cruisers typically don't follow this route, leaving it relatively quiet for those who are seeking to get away.

Start with a great map of Cozumel from:

cancunmap.com

then plan your stops. My suggestions are:

Swimming at Playa Bonita or Chen Rio
Food and/or beverages at Coconuts (don't miss the view!)
Photo ops at Mirador (natural bridge)

Just a few things that will make the trip around the island special.
