How crowded after New Years?

We will be down in Orlando and were considering giving DH a day at Universal for Christmas and we were wondering how crowded is it after Jan. 1st - We would probably go 2nd or 3rd??

When we usually go we stay at a Universal Hotel but this time we are
staying at Wilderness Lodge.

If the past 2 years are anything to go by you should practically have the parks to yourself.

Oooh thanks for asking this question!!! I am in the EXACT same situation. I was planning on going to Universal one day but if the parks'll be a bit dead then post New Year's is better.

However.

I will have my niece with me and the reason I'll have her with me is because school is out until January 8th. That sort of implies a slightly busier post New Years than average.

Although I'm somewhat local I've never braved that time of year but was thinkg about heading there on the 3rd. Glad to hear it should be slow

Jan 1st is on a Monday.
The locals are back in school on the 2nd going forward.
South Florida schools have that week off, but that shouldn't be a problem.
I think the place will be a ghost town, especially each morning.

I go every year for my son's birthday which is January 5th. Some years I've seen Orlando look like it had been vacuumed after the first, other times I looked around and said "hey, GO HOME PEOPLE!!"

The prices for airfare and the hotel prices PLUMMETT this year after the 2nd. This may be an indicator that the area does not expect the crowds to stick around.

Georgia schools are closed until the 8th this year and since they are the biggest state crowd they will be there. Also, the UK visitors hang around during that time, also.

HOPEFULLY it will be empty....hopefully....
