Hi Sandra.....:goodvibes
I have never been to WDW during this time before, however, we are leaving on June 26 for 9 days. :cool1: This trip is just my son and myself to celebrate both our birthdays, go to StarWars Weekend and to celebrate the end of the school year.....so we are both very excited!
From what I have read on here, the few days before and after the 4th of July are the busiest in the year and the parks have been known to close because of capacity. Since this is our first time going this time of year, we plan on being at the parks for the rope drop....that way we can beat the afternoon heat too!

From what my wife remembers she says it is a mix between march break and christmas time crazy busy.

We were at Universal last July and found it to be very busy. There were tons of Brazilian tour groups the week we were there (2nd week) and it was much hotter than any of the Augusts that we've been. We stayed on site at Universal and it was so worth it to get to use their fast pass...we never had to wait for anything. I think even if you don't stay you can purchase them separately which would definitely be worth it.

July 4th is in the top 3 busiest days at WDW. If you aren't in the park you want by noon, you ain't gettin' in. It is shoulder to shoulder. The days around it are also very busy but not quite as bad. Couldn't say anything about Universal as we have never ventured over there. It's a good day to resort hop or just relax by the pool with several cold beverages. LOL

We were at US last July (staying onsite) and switched to WDW (CBR) on the 4th. We saw many unhappy people at US that did not do their research, did not arrive early or stay onsite or purchase an express pass. Those folks were encountering lines exceeding an hour on all of the popular rides at both US and IOA. I really regretted switching to WDW on the 4th as although the atmosphere and fireworks at MK were nice, the crowds were overwhelming and we truely missed having fotl. US/IOA is fine if you are staying onsite, if not, and if planning on visiting WDW, make it a pool day instead.
