Ok, I really would like Mickey and Minnie to come to our wedding reception however, my fiance thinks it will be a spectacle taking attention away from us... and since it is our wedding day the the attention should only be on us. He also thinks that all of my nieces and nephews will freak out, but most of them are over 10, and only like 3 are under. So I really don't think it would be a problem. Any ideas on how to convince him? Cause I really don't want them to show up at the wedding against his wishes and have him mad at me. But I love everyones wedding pictures with them.

PrincessBrideKatie, I would simply show him photos of the characters at all kinds of Disney events, weddings and otherwise. That way he can get a feel for how things play out when the characters are around. Also, remind him that the characters are only at an event for basically 20 minutes or so, and that time truly flies by in the blink of an eye.

The characters really do go over well with everyone (both young & old alike), and hopefully your future spouse will get a sense for that from the photos that he views.

To start you off, here are two of my on-line albums that contain photos of Mickey Mouse with my guests:

FTW Custom Vow Renewal

Hopefully, others will share links to their photos, too. Good luck, and happy planning!

If you are having a dessert party after the wedding you could have mickey then.

Or just have them for a little time after dinner...when you are dancing

during dancing sounds great! that way the attention won't totally be on you anyway since people will be doing their own thing (somewhat)!

I dont think children will have a problem with minnie and mickey,
younger children under 10 seem to love them everytime i take a trip to disney

We had Mickey and Minnie come during the end of our reception after most of the major events were over. They really added to the event. Everyone was very surprised and had to get pictures. At our reception we had kids under 7 and they all loved Mickey and Minnie. It was fun to enter the reception room again with the characters because it was like having our big entrance all over again. I didn't feel like they took away from the event but added to it. The kids talked about it for days. I hope this will help!

We almost didn't have the characters come and I am really glad we made the change.

Good Luck!!!

I say you tell him, come on, we are getting married at Disney World after all. I would think most people (who aren't addicted to these boards LOL) would almost expect a character to make an appearance :thumbsup2

I'm looking for advice on how I can convince my DF that we need to have a Disney wedding - he wants no part of it (yet) :sad2: :bride:
