How come I don't hear people complain about fuel prices?

Here in NJ the price of gas jumped 10 cents with word of Dennis! No one seems to care? What is your opinion! Maybe I should ask how high of a price is ok with you before you will react? Maybe $3..........???

I figure that there is nothing we can do about it so I just deal. Just chips away at my budget!

I barely notice an increase in price. I have to buy it, so I don't see the point of complaining.

It's terrible. I'm in South Jersey and last week it jumped $.15 in one day. But like another poster said there's nothing I can do about it so I don't complain.

If it were something we could boycott, I am sure it would of happened by now. Unfortunately, we all need gas.

The makers of Hybrid vehicles are very happy these days, I am sure!

I'm not even sure this is anything a consumer watch group can take on.

My DH and I were talking about that the other day. I know that there's not much any of us can do but people seem so indifferent nowadays. I know that I complain regularly. ;)

Actually I was told by a station owner the prices jumped because Cynthia (before Dennis) caused problems for refineries thus causing a shortage and higher prices.
I haven't gotten truely mad about the prices but I have changed my habits. I no longer go for joy rides around the county looking for real estate, I do not travel to my parents house that is about 40 miles away as much, I don't go to a larger city to do my shopping near as much. We used to think nothing of running down to Fort Wayne to hit 2 stores and do lunch. And I am looking for a small economical car to drive to save on gas money.

I am still paying $2.39 for my little Guido to have gas . I see those other benz drivers on the road and want to ask them if we can really just use the regular stuff and cheat . I mean they tell you when you get your car to use the good stuff but 2.39 is a bit much !

People are complaining around here. In some cases, instances of price gouging are being investigated. I guess with all the other stuff happening, this is taking second stage right now.

The prices sure stress me out!
I live out in the country..sorta. And drive my kids to private school. I have to go 3 times a day, in the am, at noon at the end of the school day.
I am DREADING back to school, just b/c of the gas.

I just asked DH yesterday, if we should just get used to it, b/c this is the new normal. :sad2:

 ITA
No matter how much I complain, the price won't change. We watch our "unplanned" outings a bit. But I work 25miles from home, so every week, I am at 250 miles without including the running around required for DD's activities, grocery shopping etc.

I try not to look at the amount on the pump, though. When you pay at the pump, it's pretty easy to not exactly know the amount. ;)

I can't just stop driving, so it's nothing I have any control over. And I'm NOT trading in my gas guzzling Explorer for a little car. But in a month and a half I wont be able to drive my car anyway, because I'll be at school, so for now I'm just dealing with it. I'm not thrilled; gas money eats into my budget for all that junk I need to buy for college, but I may have just landed a second babysitting job, so I do still have money. Gas prices have definitely gone up, but here at least, they've gone up somewhat gradually. Yeah we're hitting $2.30ish a gallon now for regular, but at least it's been a gradual increase. I'm just used to paying a bit more for gas every time I fill up. Gas has gone steadily up the whole time, both times, that I've had a car. It's just natural for me I guess. I haven't changed my driving habits, purposely at least. I'm not driving to school anymore, which is a huge help, but I'm still driving where I want when I want. I don't exactly drive a lot to begin with, so yeah this hurts me a little, but it's not killing me. So I dont really complain.

I just saw a study that said the cheapest day of the week to buy gas is on Tuesday. The most expensive days are Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Since I just found this out, I haven't tried it yet, but I was going to start paying attention to some of the gas stations around me to see if it holds true. Sunday our Tom Thumb gas station went up 9 cents. We were wondering if it is because people fill up before their week back to work? Thought I would pass that info along in case it might help anyone. My DH commutes and the prices hurt! I just don't know what I can do about it as an individual.

You've not been in the car with my husband EVERY time we pass a gas station. :rotfl:

I drive a hybrid Prius - have had it since 2002 - and really don't notice the gas prices that much. At 600 miles to the tank, its less of a worry.

well considering the majority of the world has higher prices than we do and (adjusted for inflation) we haven't reached the all time highs yet no use wasting my breath.

We all need gas, what are you gonna do? You can complain all you want but it isn't going to change anything. If it's really a problem, change your driving habits, buy a hybrid or suck it up and deal. I choose the latter.

I think the gas in our area is at about 2.30. I don't complain because we are so lucky to have it this low. Friends overseas always talk about it being 5 or 6 dollars a gallon. We've been blessed, and since I have to get it anyway why complain. I do have a gas efficient SUV so makes life easier.

There's really nothing I can do about it, so why complain? :confused3

It is so bad for us that we are actually trading in both of our vehicles for ONE with better mileage. We are going to see if we can live on one car for awhile. Our gas bills are as much as a car payment! I'm sick of it, but I do realize no one is going to do anything about it so what's the point of complaining?

What's there to complain about?

We've gotten ourselves hooked on it...and we pay far less than other countries do for their petrol.

When our cost exceeds theirs....I might bat an eye. Until then...nothing I can do.
