How come I can't get a room w/ Disney but can thru other websites?

I'm trying to book a room for one night in December on the 9th and I can't get disney to show any open rooms @pop, but w/ the other travel sites like orbitz, priceline, expedia, etc, I can. Do they buy these rooms in advance and save them? And do you think this date (a sunday night) would free up in December or am I just out of luck. I have ressies the rest of the week there but need to add this night on.

I just checked w/ CRO and they have a room available at regular rate at pop that isn't showing online but none w/ AP or general public discount. That date is available w/ discounts on both. Do they only allow so many rooms at the discount?

Disney "sales" blocks of rooms to these companies and they turn around and "sale" them to the public. My understanding is that these companies give back to Disney any rooms they don't book closer to the check-in date. Keep checking, because someone may cancel a room for that night, I have gotten a room that way. You can call every morning at 7:00am EST, because Disney releases all cancelled rooms back into the inventory each morning at that time.

Sometimes a room won't show on the website, but will at CRO, that is not unusual, I also had that happen about 2 weeks ago. They do only allow so many rooms for the discount. If you have AAA you might be able to get something at a discount, for that date it would be about 20% off.

LOL I think that is how I got them to add a night onto my package for December at the discounted rate when they told me there wasn't one, I wasn't willing to give up until I got what I wanted.

I was a travel agent and the "usual" was rooms were released back to the supplier at 45 or 30 days prior to arrival date. That gave the hotels time to get the space filled. Hope you find your space!
