How Closely do they monitor pool entry at YC/BC?

I will also be at BC in August. Just heard from a friend who checked into BC this very day. She seemed to think SAB was fine as far as crowds.

She also noted that although it's busy July and the parks & resorts in general are relatively crowded this year, there has been absolutely no one checking for resort ids or wristbands at any time today, which contrasted a lot from info we'd recently read online. Just FYI.

We were just there for the 4th of July and we definately were not checked for ID's unless we wanted a towel.

Even with the large crowds the pool was fine unless you would want a table to sit at and those were hard to come by.

Where do you mean, where at the resort they aren't checking ID's? Just trying to narrow the location.

My friend said they're not checking any resort ID's at any entrance to Stormalong Bay. Some recent posts here and in other forums have indicated a strict wristband/room card check taking place at SAB. She said they were in and out of SAB all day and never saw any checking at any entrance, and the resort is pretty busy right now. Just thought her firsthand experience from today's date was interesting --

Can hardly wait, we'll be there in less than a month!!

We were there last month, mid-June. The pool was relatively crowded. But the thing that frosted me was that all the seats were taken unless you wanted to sit in the back row. Those chaises are crammed in together so tightly that you either have to climb over others to get to the back row, or walk all the way around to the end of the row to get to your chaise!!! What a pain that was.

As far as checking ID's goes....there was no one stationed at the entry points to SAB. We had to ask a lifeguard by the slide where to get the wristbands. He pointed it out to us. There was only the one spot to get them, by the towel shack. I lugged our three room keys (okay, maybe lugged is the wrong word!!) to the pool everyday. Finally, the CM told us she really only needed to see one key for the three of us!!! That didn't sit so well with me. She asked another family in line behind us how many in their party and just handed out wristbands based on what they said!!!! And there were plenty of people in that pool with 'naked wrists'!! Nobody said a word to them. As far as I am concerned, only those paying to stay at YC/BC/BCV should be able to swim in that pool. But, since dd wasn't all that impressed with the pool, it won't be an issue for us...we'll just stick to BWV and the nasty ole clown!!!

We are trying to decide to stay at either BC or BWI. I thought my two DD's (7 and 12) would love the pool at BC. But my DD7 does not want to stay there because she would have to wear a wrist band in the pool. She has a thing about wearing things aroung her wrist. :confused3 Don't ask me to explain because I can't. It is just one of those things. Dose she have to wear it in the pool. As long as they know we are staying there would that be O.K.? I'm sure once we got there and she saw how nice the pool was, she might forget all about that wristband. But you never know how the mind of a seven year old is going to work. :rotfl:

DS8 hates those too. We had no problem with him not wearing his. I had his key available, had anyone asked...which no one did. (We did have ours though.)

Pool hopping is under discussion to be discontinued because of abuse. I will be meeting up next year with some friends from Georgia. I will EITHER meet them in the parks OR get them a room for the night. I am not going to continue to pay for the upkeep of pools for "crashers" Sorry!

Thanks for the info. DD7 will be glad to hear that. :flower:

I've read on many occasions where a CM has replaced a missing toy or autograph book for a child free of charge. Complaining about CMs allowing extra guests at the pool is kind of like complaining that the CM who replaced the toy is stealing and the child is the accomplice because no one paid for the toy and everyone else has to. Why should they get it for free while I have to pay!! It's not fair! I read about this happening all of the time and noone complains about that kind of thing, probably because you'd be laughed off the thread!
After spending a couple days on this board, we all know should know that this kind of "magical" treatment goes on every day at WDW, and I personally wouldn't want it any other way!. ::MickeyMo

I love this !!! :sunny:

Spread the magic! This comes from one who is booked at the BC, and will be paying to enjoy the ammenities.... :sunny:

i didnt read the whole thread but i believe you would have to add themn for hte add to your reservation or something for them to be able to swim
there

We were there July 7-14 this year and they checked us every day. Anyone in the pool without a bracelet was told to go get one. I was glad, because the pool was crowded.

We just came back last saturday from the Beach Club and we were checked every single time we came into the pool area. This was our first stay at this resort and we loved it and we are hoping to go again next year.

I'M so glad to hear they are checking ID's. I wonder if they are doing that at all the resorts. I recall many times during our stay at the Poly that there were people there that were not guests which wasn't fair. These guests would take all the tables as well and there wasn't anything for the guests!!

We needed ID for OKW main pool on Friday, July 15th. No biggie but I was personally glad, especially after a very crowded pool week at WL.

After seeing Tagrel's pics of SAB, we just may stay there for a couple nights next trip! We always say we will stay in the Epcot resorts when dd is older, but the pool may win us over for at least a night or two this trip!

Off to check availability for a couple days off the front week of our trip..... :cool1:

edited to add the Polynesian's pool sucks compared to that, lol, and I love that they actually check IDs at SAB. We can never get a chair at the Poly volcano pool, and I figure some of them aren't guests, from what I hear......
