How can I make this work??? HELP!!

My daughter is dying to stay at the Nick Hotel. We are thinking about going in August and the cheapest room is $269 per night. OUCH!! I was thinking about flying to Orlando and finding a really inexpensive hotel for 2 nights. Doing one day at Disney and maybe one day at Universal. There is no way I am going to spend all that money at Nick and leave for the day! Then going for an additional 2 nights at Nick where we would stay put.

Does this make logistic and financial sense? What would you do?

BTW, my daughter will be almost 8 in August. It will be only she and I traveling. She has been to Disney twice - 2003 we did the Poly with a 4 day cruise. 2004 we stayed at Pop Century - which she like the best!

When I did Nick Hotel I felt the same way. I planned it so we did early check in @ 10am stayed all day and night-checked out in the morning but was allowed to stay on property all day and didn't leave until 5pm. We definitely got our $$'s worth out of our stay. We loved it but I wouldn't pay all that $$ and then leave for the day.

The Nick hotel is really a mini destination in itself. I don't think I could spend a whole week just hanging around the resort. Definetly a day or two though would be great to just take in all the resort amenities.
