How busy will it be in November at the Poly?

Due to my husband being in the military, we have had to change our trip from Sept to The 2nd week in Nov this year. This falls approx. 2 1/2 weeks before Thanksgiving this year. I have never been this time of year and I was wondering what might the crowds at the resort and the park be like this time of year. Will it be too cool to use the pool? Thanks!

momof3...

As you can see from my signature, we've gone to WDW in November every year since 2000 and we love that time of year. Generally, the weather is great and plenty warm enough for swiming. Of course, being Florida, there is always the chance of rain or cooler weather, but it usually only lasts for a day or two. In 2001, we caught the tail-end of hurricane Melissa, so it was cloudy and cool for a couple of days but cleared off by mid-week.

The crowds at the parks are very manageable. MGM gets crowded on Super Soap weekend (Nov 8-9), but most of the crowds are waiting in line to see soap opera stars, not ride the attractions. We usually just avoid MGM on those days and go later during the week.

Also, Epcot's attendance picks up due to the Food & Wine Festival that runs through November 16th, but it's usually only noticable on the weekends. This event is one of the main reasons we keep coming back this time of year--it's one of our favorites!

Due to these two events, the Epcot resorts are usually fairly full. We usually stay at the Beach Club or Yacht Club the second half of our trip, and even with a sold-out resort we have always been able to find a table at Stormalong Bay (the pool that the resorts share). The first half of our trip is usually at the Polynesian, and it has never seemed overly crowded to me.

Bottom line: I think you will be very pleased with November. Have a great trip and thanks for the job your husband (and you) do for our country.

We might see you there as we are booking the Polynesian 11/15 - 18 and the YC 11/19 - 22. :)

We were at WDW last November and we had a mix of weather. One morning it was only 43 and we had to wear our winter coats! It was a different experience to not be sweating at the parks like we were used to ! The pools are heated so the kids still went in - DH & I opted to sit and watch. :) The parks weren't too crowded and we walked on many things - even at the MK!

The year before we were also at WDW in November and we had warm enough weather for swimming and also some days that were cool enough for jackets. Most evenings you have to wear long sleeves.

We have found it to be a great time to go.

The only thing I would add is that the hours at the parks are shorter - which is fine for the most part. But - sometimes the only night that fireworks/light parade are at MK are Saturday night - so prepare for a crowd then!

We loved our stay at the Poly Nov.8 - Nov.16. Not crowded and we swam a lot!

Thanks so much for the help! I feel much better now. Our main worry are the crowds. I have a 6 year old and 3 year old twins and it is so much easier for us when the crowds are light. We try to get alot done in the morning before heading back for lunch and a nap, then take it easy and stroll around in the evening. Thanks again. Everyone is always so helpful on these boards!
