How busy is the March Break at WDW? We are thinking of going with the dollar being a good price but I really don't want to go if it is super crowded.
Our other choice would be maybe Mexico, not sure yet.

Opinions?

It's busy.

You didn't say if you had kids but I'm guessing you do if you want to travel over March break. If you can take the kids out of school 2 or 3 days early, to allow you to return a few days early, it will help. Ontario has the earliest break. Also, this year Easter falls the week after MB so it might be even busier than other years.

Crowds don't stop me...I just go mentally prepared for it. Besides, anywhere that you go at that time of year will be busy.

No kids, but I am a teacher so I can only go on the school breaks.
Is it better to go through a travel agent or just book it ourselves? I have not been since 2000 and I think the last time we went with a travel agent but I am thinking there are better deals to be had if I know how to get them.

For me, I like to book things myself. That way I'm not locked into anything. I have kind of made a hobby out of researching and booking travel. It has gotten to the point that my friends and family have me make all their arrangements.

If you want to go to WDW than you can get discounts for a room only ressie and you can buy discounted park passes online from sources other than WDW. You can also use reward points from Airmiles or Aeroplan to get park passes.

IF you decide on Mexico a great online company is www.exitnow.ca or expedia.

There are a lot of ways to save money on travel but you need time to do the leg work.

We went during Ontario March Break in 2006 and 2007.

The weather is nice. Everyone doesn't have Spring Break at the same time, so the crowds aren't too bad.

Here are some tips if you are staying onsite:

1. Use EE for mornings only, but head to another park at noon.
2. Don't go near parks with EE in the evening.
3. Go early for rides, take a break for swimming and resort hopping, then return to the parks in the evening for parades, shows & fireworks.

We book on our own and buy CAA travel insurance [only $55 for my family of four and my dd has a heart condition].

Here are some tips for self-booking;

1. Consider JetBlue or Southwest from Buffalo....very cheap and good flights.
2. CAA gave us 20% off our Disney Resorts...EVEN DURING MARCH BREAK!
3. We rent a car in Florida so we have freedom and can do some off-site meals....booking a car online doesn't require a credit card and you can cancel anytime. So I book cheap cars and cancel if I get a better deal elsewhere.
4. Purchase multiple day hoppers that don't expire if you plan to return to WDW. I bought 10 day hoppers w/ 6 plusses that don't expire. That will last us 3 to 4 trips. I bought them with the good dollar.

We were in WDW in March break '06. Much busier than our usual visits in August.
But still managable. Biggest chore was findind parking at DTD.

We'll be there this March break. Staying at Boardwalk Villas.

Hi we went March break 2003 2006 and are going this March. I found the two airports Toronto and Orlando very busy. Get there early! The parks were fine, but do some research and have a plan. We stayed offsite and had a great time. Good luck.

My DH is also a teacher and we have been travelling to orlando every year since 1987! Expect the crowds to be busy but manageable if you follow a few simple rules. Get to the parks early, preferably the ones without EE, use the Fast Pass System and pace yourself by taking a break in the afternoon. You will find if you go back to your hotel, take a swim and relax and then return in the evening for dinner, fireworks etc., you will find the experience much more enjoyable. Expect to field a lot of questions from other US visitors why there are so many people from Ontario in the parks! One visitor asked us if they closed down Ontario for the week! :rotfl2: Good Luck and Enjoy!

P.S. The weather usually cooperates during that week, so bring lots of warm weather clothing!

Thanks for the replies everyone! We are thinking we might drive down. I have Hopper passes that still have 4 days each on them so that will save us a bit of money too.
