We are doing a two week US/IOA/seaworld trip in september (11-25th). The only chance we would have for HHN is the opening weekend fri/sat the 21/22. In past years has the opening weekend been extremely busy? We went halloween night in 2010 thinking it would be pretty quite, but halloween fell on a weekend night that year and it was PACKED, way way busier than the park had been that day. Anyway, I would like to do HHN again, but only if it's a mild/moderate sized crowd.

Opening weekend isn't too bad...it's busier Saturday than Friday. Crowds are moderate to busy but nothing too crazy...Stay & Scream helps so try to do that if you can.

i've done opening nights before and later switched to later in the season.

once the media leaves the park on opening night, it's not crowded in the front section of the park.

i prefer going when the park stays open until 2 and not close at midnight.
but, if i could not go later in the month for hhn and only the opening weekend, i wouldn't pass it up.

i have not found huge crowds and extremely long lines for the houses on opening weekends.

you'll find a lower crowd level, possibly a moderate crowd on that saturday.
go and have fun!

Great, thanks for the goood info guys!! I think we will go then, I'm soo excited for the walking dead :banana:

We did opening weekend for 7 years straight until we finally moved on to other stuff - a week sailing in the Virgin Islands vs HHN - the week sailing wins ;)

When we did it though, it wasn't terribly busy. We did express passes first year and didn't really need them, although it was nice. Didn't get them in any following years. We also always went two nights so we could easily do everything at a reasonable pace over the two nights.

I also liked the media even they did opening night - not sure if they still do that or not.
