Hi,

Will be our first time staying at a Disney property next august. We are going for the last 2 weeks of the month. Does the resort get full to Capacity? How likely are we to get a space around the pool? Will the buses to the resort and parks be crazy manic?

With it being peak season we are expecting it to be busy especially in the parks but just wondered how 'crazy' the resort got?

Many thanks :)

i was there late august last year and did not seem crowded at all. we had plenty of room around the pool and the buses only seemed crowded at the end of the night on the way back to the hotel like always. i think you will have nothing to worry about

Did you book Hospitality House area? Otherwise, you might want to request Peninsular Road. If you booked for cash, you probably won't get Hospitality House area since is only available for points. If you didn't book it on points, go for Peninsular Road or any of the the other pools.

We are unfortunately not DVC members we booked a 2bed directly through Disney with DDP. There was no option to request certain areas when I booked online, not sure once I have linked my reservation with MDE (was told cant do this till the 10 month window) if I can request certain areas then?

We ideally would of loved to of been near Hospitality house, i had heard these were always the first to go and most requested so was unlikely, I didn't realise they were solely reserved for DVC members, but makes sense. We will also have a car and don't mind walking so will make getting round the resort a bit easier as have heard its quite spread out.

Fab thankyou for the advice :)

you can get to the HH from most place at OKW in 10 to 15 minutes (I am old - so added the 15 - if you are young then it would be under 10 minutes.

think the request are the same - near a bus stop or pool, or view of water, golf, woods. would just ask to be near a bus stop.

We always go to OKW late in August and it never feels crowded or too busy. The only time you may find the buses to be really crowded are leaving the parks at the end of the night. When we are not able to get the Hospitality House area we always try for Miller's Road or the Pennisular Rd areas, both are adjacent to the main areas and have their own bus stops etc. It is a very relaxing resort, you should enjoy it there.

If you have a car Old Key West has very convenient parking right near your villa. My family has stayed at almost every deluxe resort at Disney and our favorites are Old Key West and Saratoga Springs. I am sure your family will enjoy it as well.
