How busy is it the week after x-mas? President's day? First week in April? Does anyone know what the typical hours are during those times?

Well, I'd say you just picked 3 of the most crowded times. ;)

From one of the DL guidebooks,
When to expect larger than normal crowds:

Christmas through New Years Day
Presidents Week
3rd week of March through 3rd week of April
(guess this one depends on when spring breaks fall - definitely busy Easter week)
June through Labor Day

The up side is that you can generally count on longer hours with larger crowds.

And I'd say all bets are off with the 50th celebration anyway.
We went on what was supposed to be a quiet time in October last year and the place was PACKED!

The 50th will be over before any of these come around again (it ends Sept 30). The week between Christmas and New Years is absolutely the busiest week of the year, though. Presidents week can be pretty busy too, as some states will take the whole week off. Anything in the area of Spring Break will be crowded. You'll also have the issue of all of that being during S CA's rainy season.

Thanks! I figured as much! When I lived in Redondo Beach, we typically went to Phoenix for family for x-mas and to Vegas for Presidents day weekend and spring break was Palm Springs for years. Even then, that would have been (yikes) over twenty years ago!
My brother is having his first child in November and we were thinking about combining a visit the new baby/DL trip. My oldest DS is entering middle school in the fall and I'm very hesitant to take any time off school with him now. Unfortunately his time out of school is reduced now, too. They have less "in service" and other kinds of days, and of course they don't overlap with the elementary! Grrr....

Of the three times I would say Presidents week would be your best choice. While its busy for Feb., its not as busy as other times. Second choice would be the March/ April, last would be Christmas. Here is a graph to back up my thinking.

The hours will be slightly shorter during that time of year, and there will be more things closed for refurbs. Its a give and take.

Easter in 2007 falls on April 8th. The week before and after should be rather busy. :crowded:

It would figure, of course it does, because that's when my kids have spring break next year! :rolleyes1
